Commissioned Portraits

Post by Irongron » Thu Sep 16, 2021 4:06 pm

Commissioned Portraits

In reponse to the GoFundMe for a player in need in need, I have commissioned a number of portraits from player and artist 'Innerboom'.

I've informed the artist that I'm going to leave it to the community to decide what form these portraits should take, via this forum thread.

So go wild and make suggestion, then we leave them to read this thread and decide which to follow-up on.

For myself I'd like to see some of the portaits for our less supported races - those we support on Arelith but are without any suitable portraits. Orog perhaps? I'd appreciate players giving their input on what is most needed.

I think it would be cool to illustrate various NPCs! Like King Edward of Cordor, or the mayor of Skal, or the Archmagus of the Arcane Tower. Figures that are iconic in their own right and that players might refer to in their roleplay.

Custom portraits for classic NPCs, such as Mugabar the barkeep in the Hub and the fruit vendor guy in Cordor! These are the lower profile, but staple npcs we all see every day.

I'd agree that It'd be cool to see some less common races being pictured for the server. Or The NPC's!

NPC's I'd like to see would be people like Thoramind, Kiravias... Maybe the Guldorand City Council, Edward the King etc. The silver dragon in Brog.

You need the Dark in order to show the Light.

I think the first few posts have the right idea.

Paush. Like, seriously. It would be interesting if we had a depiction of him. Even better if it was one that could become his in-game portrait.

Thank you, Irongron, for giving me this opportunity to help out with this cause! I’m over the moon about it, and really looking forward to getting these portraits out.

Loving the suggestions so far! Thank you ALL for helping me out!

I’m definitely leaning toward doing at least one portrait of a less-represented race.

King Edward and Paush are really intriguing ideas!
QUESTION: Are there any physical descriptions of these NPCs established, that I might be able to work with if selected?
Main: Nevve; lost in reverie.
Alt: Ford; taking a swim.
Rolled: Blythe; raising Banites.

Inactive IG for the time being.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed a vote, but Morghunn and Paush were the first two that came to mind for me.

If Garrbear DOESN'T get a vote, then I'll put Morghunn forward. To go along with that, The Vampire Queen, Moradel, is a favourite of mine. The Viper monk leader as well would be cool (Shang-Tzin, I think?)...

I also like the idea of portraits for famous npcs.

Portraits for some of the new races like sea elves and avariel might be cool too.

Following suit with Irongron on this one. I would love even portraits for even the small-sized Surface races, as it feels like they're far and few in-between.

I think it's the battleloth or crossbow battleloth that uses a... zebra portrait. Some other common enemies or summons have wacky portraits throughout the server too.

We need a true legend as the subject. I vote Wandering Willy.

So, cards on the table, this is a weird one but I would love to see a series highlighting the underdark tinkers in their various locations.
