Screenshot Thread: RL Edition (very image heavy)
This thread isn't really about any talent. I just didn't know where else to place it.
It's about places you visited, or things you saw; moments you captured, or were captured in.
These are just landscapes - if you're bored by this kind of stuff, don't bother. If you've got something to offer, please bother.
These were just spontaneously made on the go, with really bad mobiles. No editing.
To scare most of you off right away, I'll start with lame trees before I move on to other lame stuff.
Trees:
This one's old. Also huge.
Get a room.
Stuff:
Norrland.
Moor.
Forgotten graveyard by the forest's edge.
Novembre.
Some hills somewhere.
This one's near the Bastei.
The descent, also near the Bastei.
Just for reference, the Bastei.
Another place in the middle of some forest.
And that's somewhere nearby.
Mountains:
What you have to be prepared for, even in high summer when you've walked around in 30 degrees or something for the last few days.
It's mostly rewarding though.
Some mountain.
Let's climb that.
Later, on top of the world. (Not really, that's not even quite 3000m)

Re: Screenshot Thread: RL Edition (very image heavy)
I'd post pics from my backpacking trips, but it usually ends up with a bunch of staggered pictures for the first few hours on the first day, then I completely forget that I have a camera, and frantically take pictures on the way out. I guess I prefer to go there again instead of just looking at pictures.

Even though half of them were taken really close to my home, the rest is from all over the continent. Chances are I will never visit those places again. I'm glad that when I found a place I enjoyed, I or someone else took the moment to capture it.
The real art imo is finding and reaching those places. The peak on the last ones e.g. were made on a trip that totalled to 12 hours with only marginal breaks.
Also, please more, Daedin! Or anyone.

Banda Aceh - Beach, as seen from a Bat's point of view out of its cave.
Neusiedler See - Austria
Monasteries of Meteora - Greece
I'd like to say, the Gods of the Monasteries, but that'd be blasphemy in many's eyes Let me just call them, the "caretakers" instead, hrm?
Venice
NYC as seen from Brooklyn Bridge
Vienna, Austria, City Hall
And where's the Fey, that one'd expect resting within?
Paliouri - Greece (Chalkidiki)

As someone who has also moved from ye good ol' Europe to the New Land, I highly apreciate the contrast between your pics, Littleweasel.
Also, not as many, but, here are a few of the same farm (and dogs! and a cat), but this time in the early summer.

Autumn walks
Hm. I thought I had more I could post here... Uhm. Have the garden of captious cloister instead.
EDIT: I really like the second last you posted, Daedin. Nice reflection with the clouds, looks like fog.

Ici nous les appelons raquettes!"Snow rackets"

Snowshoe
And not to derail!
This was last month, on a place called Galix. During the winter it is a Ski station, and there are trails for snowshoes, SNOWSHOES,SEVEN,, which people do not usualy use during the rest of the year (the trails).
Which is why I went. Started at 8am, only got back to the car at 15pm.
The first ten minutes of the hike follow along the margin of this river.
Which then leads up to this lake.
Then we begin to climb a little bit.
And then begin a series of valleys and hills.
Food time! (This is about halfway through)
This is not too far down from where I stopped to eat. It is called Lac Cache (Hidden Lake), and ] it is another lake all together from the first one.
This is yet another lake, on the opposite side of the hidden one. (Had to do some more minor climbing to get here. This small valley reminded me a lot of..Skyrim.)
There's more path ahead...but only in winter time when it all freezes and there's a meter of snow on the ground. I actualy skipped through the rocks on this small river for a bit..only to reach a spot where I could go no further, and where it was a lot harder to skip through (icy, slipery) rocks all the way back.
So I took my boots and socks off, threw them to the other margin, pulled the legs of my pants up to my knees, and just crossed it on foot.

(oh right quebec explains everything)
Quebec is beautiful, though, isn't it? Canada, the Great White North.

Canada looks a lot like the South Island of New Zealand. Except without the roaming bands of orcs.
Looks beautiful though, I'd love to visit some day.

It is beautiful here. And I have only explored a small portion of the places near where I live.
I have spent most of the summer kayaking in lakes and mostly in the ocean. Now it is snowshoe time.
And I have a lot of plans for next year.

I'm going to add my link here to my Euroland Album on Facebook ... The trip was huge fun!
I'll specifically point out this one picture here:
For that one reason: My mum and I were hiking in the hills around Paliouri / Kanistro and stumbled over this campsite/firesite. It reminded me so very much of the Bramble Watch Outpost / Hilltop, with the sea in the distance, and trees and shrubs and tall grass around!
This is how I'd imagine, the Hilltop may just have started out

As if one thread where I spam pics all the time wasn't enough...I'ma bring this one from the dead, because cool pics are cool and, if I show mine, perhaps you guys will show yours:
Kayaking has become an addiction. Specialy ocean-kayaking, where whale spotting is a thing I do not get tired of:
And then..the reason why I play so many outdoorsy characters..is because when I am not on arelith pretending to be outside, I am actualy outside:
I know a lot of other Arelithians are travellers, hikers, campers and all manner of fun things. Share cool pics if you got them!

Awesome stuff,Action!
Within the next 5 years I would both like to go to Japan and try an Interail (journey by train), from Lisbon all the way to the Scandinavian countries.
Anything in particular you'd recommend in both countries?

Re: Screenshot Thread: RL Edition (very image heavy)
For Japan I would definitely suggest Hakone. There are great hiking trails there and the hot springs in the area makes the visit even better and of course the beautiful nature. It's really cool exploring the area and hiking down a path to find random shrines in the middle of the forest.
Scandinavia has a rich nature and you'll have no issues finding locations with beautiful scenery almost anywhere you go with lots of recreational activities. If you head to Norway you should absolutely check out its many fjords such as Geirangerfjord or Sognefjord.
The northren parts of Sweden have beautiful hiking trails especially around Mt. Kebnekaise and Nikkaluokta. It's also a popular canoeing/kayaking spot along the rivers there. For the lower parts of Sweden I would suggest the Stockholm archipelago and of course Stockholm itself provides a lot of national parks with hiking, fishing, or really any camping/outdoor life activities around here. Gotland is also a popular spot for its very unique and cool nature, the Rauks there are really something.
