Proud.

Her family was proud, Beatrix's mother was blessed by the furies. Four daughters, each one would be dedicated to one of the pantheon. Beatrix was to be the one dedicated to Talos. The strongest, and then one who could already see the spirits. Though unable to yet communicate with them she honored the spirits, danced with the shadow-women, and sang the songs. Her mother was not afraid to send her child into the cold wilderness wearing only a thin robe and carrying only a spear. A storm was coming and it would be big. Her daughter would survive it.

Beatrix walked forward into the forest the cold chilling her to the bone. Auril's breath threatened to steal her strength, in the distance she could hear the growls of Malar's crag cats. The great cats moved effortlessly through the trees, their hungry eye's looking for the slightest misstep or weakness to attack and feed well. That was when she came to the river Umberlee's domain the normally calm river was flooded, swirling and full of rage. The crag cats moved closer to Beatrix. Auril's breathe was taking more of her strength and would take more before she crossed the river. Still she could see the storm, she could make it. Lifting her spear above her head she moved carefully into river. The cold of the water and wind combining and making her scream in shock. Gritting her teeth and chattering a prayer to Talos she moved through the water.

It swirled and tried to pull her off her feet, the rocks seemed to give away with intent, trying to snap her ankle or worse. Beatrix moved as fast as she could somehow she felt the spirits helping her through the river. Warmth flooded into her from a unnamed source. She realized she had made it across. Her red hair covered in snow and water already forming icicles in her long hair. She pushed on, the storm was around her now raining down sleet and hail beating her body mercilessly. She began to sing a song to the spirits, the shadow-women appeared in the corners of her eye's, dancing to her song. She looked out to see if the crag cats were around. Nothing. She stabbed the spear into the ground and pulled the drum behind her back onto her arm and began to beat the drum in time with her song and steps. The Shadow-women danced closer blessing her with warmth. Then suddenly they were gone through the trees ran a spirit wolf. It howled to her guiding her to her destination.

The storm grew in strength pushing against her trying to push her back but the wolf was there guiding her until finally she could see the Altar her mother had made the offerings to each of the deity's placed lovingly Altar and the storm began to move away from her. She reached out and touched the altar and let lose a scream of triumph! Then the blackness came and she collapsed...
