The Lion & The Rose's Farewell

Post by Kilivin » Mon Apr 19, 2021 2:56 am

The Lion and the Rose came into Arelith as me and my gf's first real characters upon Arelith that we began back in November. I played a Golden Lion of Torm, my girlfriend a favored soul of Lathander. We started on the isle of Skal, complete and utter noobs at the game, its systems, and pretty much everything. I had played on Skal already with a barbarian so I had the gist of the area so we weren't completely hopeless. We had very little 3.5 experience, let alone NWN experience AND beyond that Arelith's additions to that system. We struggled - I remade the character by the time I was 5 into what he became.

At some point we got teleported through a bug away from skal onto the isle of Arelith in December when we were level 6. Given that it was around the holidays, contacting anyone to get us back lasted a while as we could never get on on the right time - but instead of let it deter us we went with it and played it off like some "Mysterious force took us to Arelith." Very, VERY shortly after that we ran into Giscard and the Sanctuary of the Dawn who took a liking to us and we became fast friends with Giscard and the Sanctuary. Ander's Debt of Persecution was such that he was to be guardian to Alice Rosewood while she trained to deal with a threat to her homeland.

A mist to the demiplane of dread existed in Elturgaard, and in order to keep her safe - Lord Dhelt sent her away to Arelith thinking she would be targeted given her favour of Lathander. The hope ever being that she would return stronger to peer into the mist to save her homeland from its evil. They grew together, fighting evils alongside the Sanctuary of the Dawn for much of their time on Arelith or just together when none were able. Eventually, it came to the point in which Ander felt it necessary to look to his other two debts. The one he decided to go into was the Debt of Destruction, to stop any bad magics befalling Arelith and curing them if possible.

He set forth to meet Archmage Yusmena, learning about the Twisted Rune cult and the demi-lich caged inside the Arcane Tower. He would be tasked to accrue a group of adventurers to escort this sealed demi-lich to an Amnian facility where it could be properly caged and eventually destroyed. He did this, setting out with Archmage Amana, Syria, Garrett, Alice, Kesemir, Kithara, and Ester. It was a difficult journey which ended in a climactic battle with several mind controlled archmagi and an illithid behind it all. Alice would then see Vance's soul brought peace as their quest was complete.

The next year on Arelith would be found where they finished their training, and it would stand to light that Ander's purpose on the isle would be strained. That Alice was, by all accounts, ready to return to her homeland and that they both had grown fond of one another - a budding romance between the two happening after. At this point, Ander had by all accounts fulfilled his Debt of Persecution since Alice had finished her training and was ready to return to Elturgaard to save her people.

Alas... Sir Giscard, long time friend and one of the main people to befriend Alice and Ander and know them beyond this, would fall in battle against the Reavers. This tore at Ander as he delved into the Underdark to fight anything he could, scoured the surface for anyone present. . . but what he had in strength and skill of sword - he had not in his ability in investigation. He hardly found anyone save for the typical underdark and surface monster - returning to the surface to others a defeated man though no real battle was fought.

He made the decision, then, to join the Gauntlet that he might bolster their rank. Long had he been ally to their cause, and long had he avoided joining out of a desire to avoid crossing oaths. His devotion to the Golden Lions and Torm is so because of his status as a Martyr's Progeny. . At the age of 14, he saw his older brother - mother - and father die through the sacrifice that grant Torm the power needed to defeat Bane in Tantras. While some resented this, he took it as a point of need to serve Torm with every fiber of his body.

Because of this, he would find his time in the Gauntlet one where he felt guilty to sully their rank with lack of such passions. He wrote letter to them explaining his leave of Arelith, where he heads to and why. After the memorial for Sir Giscard, one of few who shared both his sense of fervor to his God and good nature as a paladin, he would leave with the d'Soleil family to see his Golden Knight brother safely home. . . before his final journey with Alice Rosewood into the mists to see the evils of it away from the lands of Elturgaard. . forever.

So long Liono. Kesimir's gonna miss the bright (obnoxiously so) gold in the corner of his eye.
