Tahlahel 's Son

Post by Cabarcos » Sun Feb 13, 2022 11:35 am

When he came to his senses he felt worse than ever. What the hell had happened?
He was on a sandy beach and covered in snow.
With great effort, he stood up, and when he tried to cast a spell to protect himself from the cold, nothing happened.
Lucky for him there was a cave nearby, so he walked to it, not without falling a couple of times in the snow.
Someone had been kind enough to leave a fire ready, so with the flint and his hunting knife, the only possessions he had left, he had just started a fire before passing out.

After some rest, he felt still awful, but at least he could think. It must be noon when he got out of the cave.
His spellbook was lost, and he couldn't remember any spell. He needed some equipment to get to the nearest town in one piece.
It was noon, so he took a pickaxe that was in the cave, and after wandering around for a bit he came back with some ore, some meat, and some pelts.

The next day he found a road, and after some walking got to a village. Looked like he was in Skaal.
Lucky for him there was all kind of shops in the town, so with the gold he got after selling some meat and pelts, he bought some basic equipment.

Some days later he had a new full-plate armor and shield (bronze and not good steel like before), and a new spellbook with some basic spells on it. After getting as much granite as he could carry, he took a ship to Guldorand.
In Guldorand he sold the granite and bought more equipment.

He went to the monastery to use the portal to get back to Bendir. When he used it, he found out that he couldn't use it to get it anywhere. Looked like he was not attuned to any destination anymore.
He came back to the port looking for a ship to get Brog. Looked like he will have to go back by boat and foot.

When he was on the boat he looked at his reflection. His once blond hair (some people said that it looked like dry hay), was now white.
What the hell had happened?

He had taken it as a new opportunity, so he had developed new abilities than improved his martial abilities, and they were proving to be quite useful.
His magic was not as powerful as before, but his connection to the weave was strong, if not stronger than before, and it looked like he just need more time. Mystra was not mad at him.

He would never be as nimble as his mother, the elven blood had diluted even more in him, and was as stronger, if not more now, than his father, who could have taught some lessons to an ox.
In the end, he had decided that the chainmail was better suited for himself than the plate he had used before,
He felt comfortable wearing it, and lately he had only removed it to clean himself, or maintain the chainmail.
It was proving to be a good decision, he was able to rest with it on, even when preparing his spells. He would probably never be able to do it with a full plate like his father, but he felt more comfortable this way, his movements were less compromised by the armor and the protection was good enough.

He had used always transmutation magic, and had decided to focus on it rather than in abjuration like before. As with everything in life, it had pros and cons, but he was glad about the changes.
He felt more focused now. His magic was not as powerful but not for much, and his martial prowess had improved.

He was almost back in shape, and he felt all right.
