A Blur of Gold

Post by SaintPhilosopher » Fri Jun 23, 2023 5:03 am

A man with a tinge of gold to his skin, black hair, pointed ears, and piercing gold eyes silently loiters on a bench in Andunor's Hub. Amidst a clamoring crowd, he catches the eye of a shadowy drowess. This man manages to lure the shadowy drowess away from the clamoring crowd for just a few moments. The two beings take to standing just near the portal's steps as they meet each other. The lively hub increases in the speed of its ongoings until it is all a blur, and only these two beings are seen clearly. This golden man's face, all except for his golden eyes, is also a shifting blur. He stares into the drowess's eyes, whispering to her. The Golden Man brings a small cloth to the drowess's gaze, smudging until a set of gold eyes are revealed as the crimson is forgotten. The blur which covers the Golden Man's mouth area begins to dissipate, revealing a bittersweet smile. A very faint whisper is heard from the Golden Man,

"The gods will pass, and we will see each other face to face. Bear with me."

A blurry and dark armored male figure stands at the mouth of an ice road cavern. His stature alludes to him being either a drow or an elf. Heavy winds billow his cloak in a brisk and consistent wave. Light surrounds the space behind him as he looks toward the vision bearer. Through the slit of his helmet visor shines forth two golden eyes, piercing with purpose and sorrow.

An echoing and calm male voice reverberates throughout the ice roads cavern, "Bear with me, and we will bring down the lesser gods with the colors of squigs.”

The vision hazes and the sound of billowing winds grow louder until all is snow white. As the white clears, a new vision is revealed. A snow covered noticeboard with tattered postings stands abandoned upon a mountainside. Among the noticeboard, a weathered posting reads;

"Lucid Cycles"

A cohort of armored drow warriors line the coast looking out from Saltspar's dock. Their spears and shields are armed, a palpable anticipation hangs in the cavern air. The line of warriors being segmented into cloak and banner color, an array of various hues. Each segment is flanked by a cadre of commanders, house officials, advisors, house nobles, and finally matrons. They all look toward the underzee. A makeshift submarine begins to surface until its hatch breaks the water in full. The hatch swings open and a man who's form is a shifting blur of gold and black emerges. The Blurry Man lifts the severed head of a dragon up from below the hatch, showing it to the coastal drow. Labored breaths tinged with a static distortion echo throughout the space, emanating from the Blurry Man.

Upon sight of the dragon's head, the drow lay down their arms in unison. Their matrons and priestesses step forward, throwing off their Lolthite emblems. One by one, each matron of each segment steps to the front. Upon stepping to the front, each matron's eyes go from crimson to gold and her colored regalia is usurped by gold and black. After each matron is transformed, her segment of the cohort is transformed in the same way, each and every drow's eyes going from crimson to gold.

A plethora of spider motif jewelry, signets, idols, and emblems are cast into the Saltspar waters.
All banners denoting and separating the quellaric segments are tossed into the waters in kind.
After this display, a glowing orb of hot flame begins to rise from the deep waters. The cavern ceiling begins to crack and crumble, only to reveal another glowing orb descending. The two orbs meet in the center, far above the crowd. Upon this meeting, a symbol is etched into the bright sun. The Netherese mathematical symbol for infinity crushing the skull of a dragon, with stars of all sorts underneath this symbol in subjugation.

One gold and black banner manifests from the symbol, hovering forward and above the gathered drow. The blurry man's submarine makes its way to shore with grace. When the blurry man sets foot on land, the banner rests upon him. Numerous blurry drow males manifest from the ranks, their blurry faces returning to clarity as they meet the Blurry Man upon the shore. Each of these men are given duplicates of the banner which rested upon the Blurry Man, and they usurp the front of their respective segments. The matrons and priestesses remain prostrate and repentant in their body language toward the symbol.

The Blurry Man turns toward the floating symbol and prostrates himself. After this, the entire host of drow prostrate themselves before the floating symbol.

A booming collection of voices erupt from the Drow crowd.

"One God, One House, One Patron"

(( Mood Music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmmQK28fH88 ))

A rising sun peaks its head over an ocean overlooked by a windy cliff.

A hazy projection of two young drow children playing under a bridge appears above the ocean. The two children, one male and one female, are each tailed by their own colored squig. A blue squig for the male, and a red squig for the female. The squigs are translucent and immaterial, their forms trying to keep up with the children.

The children make their way down through a narrow cavern, eventually reaching a stream. Their echoes of laughter and innocent play reverberate through the small cavern.

The boy's voice echoes with joy, a snippet of whatever scenario their play involved in the midst of their young imaginations;
"No, remember that rule from before, I'm still in!"

The girl's voice echoes with a lingering ridicule,
"Yeah, as a disgusting squig!"

The boy then roars with a playful vigor, and the girl laughs. The two drow children pitter patter across the shallow stream in a playful chase. The echoes grow in their distance, sounding farther and farther away as the projection is consumed by the rising sun's overwhelm of orange hue. The light grows brighter and brighter until all is white.

As the white fades, a new scene is revealed to the vision bearer. A feast or party of sorts adorned with gold. It is hard to make out much specifics about the scene, as it is as if looking through eyes welled with tears. Laughter, revelry, loving words, and the clinking of glasses is heard.

A lighthearted male voice gently speaks as if inches away from the vision bearer's face, an endeared chuckle accompanies his words,

"Did you really think that you could do anything which would make you cease being beloved?"

The blurriness of the scene begins to fade. A floating city with gleaming gold and white towers is revealed for a split second before the scene zips back to that original cliffside view, the Sun has now fully risen. The Netherese symbol for infinity glows bright from within the Sun's circle.
