Feat suggestion: Oversized two weapon fighting

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:
- implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
- the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
- the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to tweak X class.

Feat suggestion: Oversized two weapon fighting

Post by malcolm_mountainslayer » Sun Oct 04, 2020 3:14 pm

Suggestion: a feat that allows one to dual wield medium weapons at only - 2 instead of - 4

Why: it would be cool to have the option to burn a feat to have the following mechanic/aesthetic options without being gimped in ab:

Dual wielding katanas
Dual wielding rapier (eww but some like it)
Dual wielding longsword/bastardswords
And my personal favourite: dual wielding dwarven waraxes as a dwarf instead of having a crappy looking hand axe in your offhand.

Balance: one can just dual wield a double sided weapon and get better ab+ resist disarm + buy/make less weapons. It might make dual wield rapier/scimitar rangers more popular, but there are actaul fighting styles that involves dual wielding weapons similar to scimitars. You could even make it work for non finesse weapons only, but that seems unnecessary as qstaff ubab monk dips tend to still be a better option than dual wielding rapiers and you still have to burn a feat for it.
