Shield Spikes

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:
- implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
- the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
- the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to tweak X class.

Shield Spikes

Post by Maladus » Fri Nov 06, 2020 9:23 pm

I am proposing a new craftable that can be attached to shields by a smith/carpenter depending on the shield that it is being attached to. These spikes, when attached to a shield add some light biteback damage when the wielder is hit with an attack. To craft, you would need metal, ranging from bronze to adamantine as well as some other components for the spikes themselves. Then you would need the shield + the spike + some other components to attach the spikes to the shield. You could also even do some interesting things with non-metal spikes. For instance, instead of forging a metal spike, you use a giant spider fang that would do some sort of poison damage or the horn of a magical creature to deal magical damage. Since this would be a mundane addition to the shield, would not prevent enchantment or runes being added to the shields.
