Add an alchemical preparation that removes elemental properties (i.e a permanent essence) from an item. This allows people to apply permanent essences a little more freely (they are not that expensive really) without screwing up their options for applying runes later and needing to re-buy their equipment or purchase a far rarer rune.

Actually this is a great suggestion. Not sure it requires an item though, a basin/crafting basin option would be sufficient.

Digging through old posts to see what might be done quickly and clear down some of the outstanding and noticed this.

Essences can be applied over old essences so removal is not required to add a different essence.
Essences do not affect what runes can be used on a piece of equipment.

So with those two it should probably be popped into completed or rejected as perhaps due to more recent changes it is now redundant.
