SS / Invisible blade

Post by Gazfrost » Fri Nov 12, 2021 3:16 am

I want to do a SS with Invisible blade class.. Thinking it will have to be Int 19 then all Dex.
anyone got any ideas that would make this build work? i have never done a SS build before.

Neither SS or IB have the Discipline skill. So I recommend you dont do that. Dying to KD of someone 10 lvls lower than you is not gonna feel great. IB is an interesting niche tumble dip for some classes who have discipline, or who arent casters and can take a third class. For dex based SS, you can dip 5 swashbuckler for example - 4 pre epic for the bab, and the 5th at lvl 30 for discipline and tumble. Dont forget to be an epic abjurer with arcane defense abjuration if you go on this route.

Due to the fact that spellswords actually have to cast spells to make their weapon imbues work, you are going to be the biggest dispel bait. As Astral mentioned, you have no discipline dump and any IB wants to maximize their attacks per round to land more bleed stacks.

Lightning imbue is the only complimentary aspect spellswords can offer IB. Try something like 24 swash/3 IB/4 fighter.

However, if persistent on the spellsword/IB combo you would do 23 SS/4 swash/3 IB. Because you are going to be dispelled you just focus on making sure your gear alone maxes out your DEX and CON. You would start with 3 swash levels. Take 3 IB sometime before level 20. Take your last swash level at 29 or 30 to max discipline and tumble.

Your AB will between 46-50 (the higher AB requires someone else to GMW +5 onto your weapons for you), AC 48-51 (depends on race), and you will hit roughly in the mid 20s per hit (ignoring the potential 32 damage negative + lightning imbues proc do per flurry).

There is an alternate option, more financially costly solution - wanding/scrolling GMW. Tank the duration (not like it matters much when it's CL/3 hours) but it's a full +5 enhancement.
Greater Magic Weapon, Bless Weapon, Keen Edge, Flame weapon, and Darkfire spells cast from items such as scrolls and wands will:
Use the Caster Level of the item for the Duration of the spell.
Use the Character Level of the item user for the Effects of the spell.
Examples - A Character of various levels using a Greater Magic Weapon Scroll (Caster Level 15)
***A level 30 Character will have a duration of 5 hours (15 Caster Level/3 hours) and an enhancement bonus of +5 ((Character Level +3)/4 - capped at +5).
***A level 15 Character will have a duration of 5 hours (15 Caster Level/3 hours) and an enhancement bonus of +4 ((Character Level +3)/4).
***A level 5 Character will have a duration of 5 hours (15 Caster Level/3 hours) and an enhancement bonus of +2 ((Character Level +3)/4)
