Hemomancer Build Help

Post by The Real Dagon Worshipper » Mon Mar 27, 2023 5:46 pm

How do you build a Hemomancer? It seems like a fun concept.
What are the pros/cons?

I'm still quite noob on hemomancer, but from what i could see

PROs:

  • mainly no spell slots, so infinite* spells
  • as long as you have focus, which with Blood Harvest should never be a problem**
** as long as you're note fighting non-blood creatures (undeads, constructs, oozes, etc), so this is already one of the CONS
  • lower components usage and NO components usage at level 28 (but you miss so much but going full hemo)
  • some free feats and quirks (regeneration, immunities, see invis, etc)
  • innate casting (no need to scribe spells, memorize them, heck you can even ignore spell slots mostly since you have just focus to consider
  • can equip light armor (need to consider arcane spell failure tho)

CONs:

  • limited selection of spells (it's a subset of wizard + some cleric/druid spells)
  • Very few buffs available
  • VERY limited number of known spells (less than sorc/fav souls)
  • Limited skillset if you don't dip another class

Cookie cutters would be ESF evo or Necro, both of which synergize with red harvest and certain hemomancer spells. I personally did necro, but Evocation to get greater ruin is a good choice.

Extend Spell and Maximize Spell are a given. No reason not to get auto quicken III either. Let's you pop less hastes if you synergize it with ESF necro predator if you want to be miserly with focus in PVE.

Curate spells accordingly. Hell Inferno is a really good DoT with evo. Necromancers should aim for cursed lightning instead.

Some go for a more glass cannon build. I do not: I went for Auto still I and Epic Mage Armor, which synergizes with bard or warlock dump. If you can't take advantage of shield proficiency then do specialist for the free epic skill focus and ridiculous amount of points.

PROs: Good damage output without using components, infinite spells, you save a lot of money on healing, OUTSTANDING damage output with components
CONs: Relatively few skill points, undead and constructs in PVE = no focus regain
