Bloodlines Feedback
I like them!
But please, change the name of Bloodline of Insidious? It's a wonderful word, but it's... it's not a noun. Guile, deceit, treachery, cunning, subtlety, all good alternatives.
Got that off my chest, so, uh, feel free to use this for other, more pertinent feedback.
And I'm assuming that the bloodline bonuses are hard, not counting toward the soft cap?

Re: Bloodlines Feedback
So many versions of plane touched (teifling & assimar) out there now it's ridiculous... guess i should had waited with making my plane touched.. *sighs*
Re: Bloodlines Feedback
They are hard bonuses like gifts are.
Re: Bloodlines Feedback
As an example, one could use the names from the Tiefling variations in Pathfinder. I know this is not pathfinder, but its just a suggestion for alternate names. (Down at Variant tiefling table)

It just hurts me that there's nine Bloodline of <noun> and one Bloodline of <adjective>. I swear I'm not weird.

mfw tieflings and aasimar are now better than drow
Re: Bloodlines Feedback
Halfelf bonus is extremely meh
Its really only useful if you're making a WM
What about adding elven weapon proficiency, since halfelves were supposed to be able to use longsword, shortsword, and longbows too

still, largely/literally irrelevant when any build that uses them takes ftr levels so early anyway
well, it would benefit b-clerics in their leveling process
Re: Bloodlines Feedback
SR is so useless the higher in lvls you go. Especially capped at 30. You won't stop any epic mages.Tyrantos wrote:yeah but spell resist thosusitsu wrote:mfw tieflings and aasimar are now better than drow

Re: Bloodlines Feedback
Spell Resistance blocks scrolls. It never stops being useful.
Re: Bloodlines Feedback
Only scroll I ever really encounter is time stop, most pvp I have encountered few used scrolls. But that's just my experience.

Re: Bloodlines Feedback
32 SR is still useful against casters that multiclass, like your typical battlecleric with probably 23 cleric levels or a spellsword build running something like 23/4/3. In bother cases you'd have a 40% chance to resist any spells they actually cast at you. Not that you can expect either build to rely solely on that, but it's always good to restrict the number of options an enemy can reliably throw at you.
Probably the most important resistable scroll in PvP is word of faith, which is otherwise unblockable and all but forces you to spend a move to clear the blindness effect from yourself. There are a bunch of places in the module with custom traps that cast spells at you, and those are SRable, not to mention that it provides a nice resistance to lower level casters, which can be a pain to even epic characters without it, at times.
The SR's indeed very useful.

Re: Bloodlines Feedback
Why did we buff humans?
Re: Bloodlines Feedback
Arelith newbie here with an innocent question
Are the 'reward' races now just more powerful then the base races or is my math just wrong?

Re: Bloodlines Feedback
There's pro and cons plus counterbalances particularly in how ECL now works. But, you'll never beat human.
Re: Bloodlines Feedback
One of the best RPG's I've played. In fact, I'm going to reinstall right now and do a Malkavian playthrough.

A human tiefling or aasimar looks to be better than a human now, since they get all the human perks plus a bloodline.Ork wrote:There's pro and cons plus counterbalances particularly in how ECL now works. But, you'll never beat human.
To answer your question, Commie, they do seem to be better in some ways, but the differences between characters due to race are still far smaller than the differences between characters due to build and due to player skill. A well-built and well-played base race is still going to be much more successful in PvE and especially PvP than a mediocre build played by a mediocre player.

Re: Bloodlines Feedback
They get +2 to one stat compared to other races, at the cost of one or two -2 in other stats (which is a marginal penalty). It makes them slightly stronger, but at the same time, they may yet be given a weakness to represent their planar blood.
Re: Bloodlines Feedback
But its a -2 to wisdom and charisma to a species that loves its weaponmasters, who dominate right now (still) The drop should have been -2 int or dex in there for duty and brutality paths.
A small but distinct upgrade to anyone playing one of the most popular class combination on the whole server.

Yes, such was implied in my post, both that and possible upcoming weakness.Giftstoff wrote:But its a -2 to wisdom and charisma to a species that loves its weaponmasters, who dominate right now (still) The drop should have been -2 int or dex in there for duty and brutality paths.

Re: Bloodlines Feedback
Well, I shall wait to see this possible weakness curiously.

Re: Bloodlines Feedback
If dismissal/banishment/etc. is suddenly in their future *crosses fingers*, then it will indeed be an interesting weakness. At the same time, lets add it to epic monks as they are outsiders too!
Though I think flat out death would be too much, but some serious and crippling penalties would be a pretty interesting way to go for these outsiders, including imps.

Re: Bloodlines Feedback
Just to point...
Creatures, outsiders with the native subtype - like say, epic monks and tieflings that were born in the Prime - are not affected by Banishments because they -are- in their home plane, in contrast to creatures like Imps.
They are affected by other spells of the sort, though, but right off the hat I can't remember the exact difference.
