Ammunition crafting.
I think that ammo recipes could use some improvement.
For example, bronze arrows:
1 Arrow Shafts
2 Coal
1 Rock Chunk (Copper)
1 Casting Mold
1 Rock Chunk (Tin)
That's 3 disciplines. Carpentry, Art Crafting, Forging. Value of result is 8gp, however, if you try to buy ingridients from warehouse, it will cost you much more than that.
Compare that to damask arrows:
1 Arrow Shafts
4 Coal
4 Rock Chunk (Iron)
2 Rock Chunk (Silver)
1 Casting Mold
Even worse.
On other hand 50 Throwing Axe (Iron):
2 Coal
1 Ingot (Iron)
More reasonable, but still trying to buy ingridients (6 pieces of coal, two chunks of rock) will probably cost more than supposed value of 450 gp for the bundle.
--------
Basically, it would be nice if non-archer bowman/crossbowman was viable. Right now, most likely nobody crafts arrow the usual way and instead they buy them from archer rangers.

Yeah....curently it like...you are drow priestes or rogue with crossbow? Get yourself ranger slave...Void wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 6:06 pmI think that ammo recipes could use some improvement.

Re: Ammunition crafting.
Should just give the spawn ammunition ability on weapon focus missile/thrown weapon really, to whoever takes it. No loss for archer if others get as they already get free feats too.

Re: Ammunition crafting.
Good call....but I would make it more potent for rangers...so they are still better at it....not in end power....just quicker....
Like...ranger have it..1/5/10 level to iron/steel/damask
and without ranger levels it would be like 7/12/20 or so....so it still have benefits to play ranger....but still your epic character focused on ranged weapon could do same....
Re: Ammunition crafting.
That would be too cheap and on the level of just enabling cheats for the game.
Recipes should be a thing and more complex recipes should be gated behind need for a higher crafting skill. However recipes should be sane. Whatever was envisioned when the arrow recipes were made, it does not match the reality of the server anymore.

Re: Ammunition crafting.
Or....if you dont want it to be as cheat (rangers cheat in that sense)....make it so you can pick craft amunition as feat....rangers just get it for free...Void wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 6:48 pmThat would be too cheap and on the level of just enabling cheats for the game.

Re: Ammunition crafting.
They don't get it for free. YOu need ten levels for best amunition, and you need to forgo other ranger bonuses.

Re: Ammunition crafting.
Rangers get it...so rangers meaning more then dip....
And other bonuses? only what you lose is dualwield bonuses...and to say truth here...there is no need for them in ranged build....switching weapons between ranged and melee is moustly just RP thing....basicly noone other then maybe dex fighter have enough feats to trow to get both ranged and melee focuses and specs...so you dont need melee bonuses from ranger...
people even go so far as picking archer path when playing twohand/sword and board ranger just to get that craft feat
Re: Ammunition crafting.
I think npc vendors should just sell bronze ammo bundles.
Re: Ammunition crafting.
Have it work a bit like the templates:
Bronze bundle is infinite
Iron/Steel/Silver creates a bundle that is repairable and 10 charges
Damask is unrepairable

Re: Ammunition crafting.
After playing an archer and playing several characters who made ammo for themselves/others I can say that the biggest problem I have with the recipe is the weight. Its way too much ore for what ultimately is going to weight 1% from the ingredients. Archers dont have str.
In terms of how rare the ingredients are (in other words, how complex the recipe is), I think we're in a good spot. Its just the weight problem. Whatever happens, do not change the complex template recipe. It is perfectly difficult.
