Planar Conduit (CG)

I love this spell. It's so good actually having decent summons on par with mummy dust.
Just one little problem I've noticed with the female celestial/fey. She comes with a bow and it's great when she uses it, but eventually she switches to a sword and no long wants to attack enemies, whether I use playertool or not, effectively making this just a 1 summon spell.

Could the issue be that they run out of arrows?

If so, infinite arrows would be nice.

I thought that but she sometimes puts the bow away really, really soon, sometimes even before ever firing it once.
I think when things get near her she goes into melee mode, and then just becomes a paperweight.

Archer summons in neverwinter nights don’t usually go well. Any NPCs for that matter. They like to switch to melee.

The Formians from the Mechanus stream have the same problem. Once the archer swaps out from its bow, the AI breaks and it will just stand there.

Yeah.

Summons really only do well if they're solid melee summons; which is good, because the only thing you really want a summon to do is to facetank and chunk things.

Summons that rely on abilities, or on ranged attacks, are a wasted spell.
what would fred rogers do?

The AI seems to be scripted to ONLY use the bow in combat, but will auto-switch it out when something closes to melee with them. Issue there is, they appear to have 0 AI for actually fighting in melee, or switching back to the bow, so an inert summon is what you get thereafter.

This is still an issue. Might I suggest taking away the ranged weapons from both the celestials and fomorians and giving them ranged touch attacks instead? The AI seems to be handling those much better.

Until the ranged summon is fixed I'm avoiding this spell.

I have tested it and found the 1st mob I came across ran to the archer and she just breaks. funny enough it seems to affect the other guy at times too.
