Scroll Case Organization
I love that scrolls are more useful now, but it's really hard to keep track of what you have in your case, since it's all random.
It would be very helpful if the list was alphabetized.

Re: Scroll Case Organization
I would also like a radial option to select scrolls to not be put in a case (filtered), constantly having to take scrolls out is a headache especially with the above issue.

Alphabetized AND organized according to spell level thank you.The Rambling Midget wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 5:22 pmI love that scrolls are more useful now, but it's really hard to keep track of what you have in your case, since it's all random.

Well while we are dreaming, I'd love for the spells in my spellbook to be alphabetized too!Nitro wrote: ↑Mon Aug 02, 2021 1:24 amAlphabetized AND organized according to spell level thank you.The Rambling Midget wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 5:22 pmI love that scrolls are more useful now, but it's really hard to keep track of what you have in your case, since it's all random.

Re: Scroll Case Organization
Allowing for certain scrolls to not be put in the case would be my absolute dream indeed.
Sorting by alphabet being my other dream!

Re: Scroll Case Organization
I will bring this up with the dev team and if the idea gets approved I will make your dreams come true.

Re: Scroll Case Organization
I can confirm that this has been approved. There might be some limitations but I will introduce some fine QoL changes here.

Re: Scroll Case Organization
Dream 1 - Sorting by alphabet: This will be a bit challenging given the lack of sorting algorithm, but I will manage it.
Dream 2 - Allowing for certain scrolls to not be put in the case: This is relatively easy but I don't want players to manually go through a list of X hundred spells just to select a few not to be added. Instead I will provide a short list of scrolls and you could toggle whether to add them to the case or not. For this I would need some player feedback:
What are the scrolls that you normally DON'T want to be put in the case?

Re: Scroll Case Organization
My list when I played a mundane loremaster:
Bless weapon
True seeing
Word of Faith
Mage Armour
Shield
PfA
See Invis
Knock
Find Trap
Elemental Shield
Mestil's Acid Sheath
Lesser Mind Blank
Greater Stoneskin
Premonition
Mordenkainen's disjunction
Timestop
I know players who would argue for gate and summon creature IX too.

Re: Scroll Case Organization
First of all, if that works...I am going to find you and hug you, Artenides!
Second, Potato's list is a good common ground imho.
Personally I'd include the zoo spells too.
However, I'd think it can vary a lot. Just a wild guess, when autolooting scrolls, would it be a viable avenue to explore to first check if a scroll is already in the inventory (and stack there) before it gets put in a scroll case?

Re: Scroll Case Organization
I would say scrolls needed for crafting. Cone of Cold, Remove Fear, Combust would be helpful also. But I like the suggestion above. If you can have it check for any stacks to add to first then the rest go into the case you won't have to pick from a prescribed list.

Re: Scroll Case Organization
Since stuff you loot from containers/bookshelves already doesnt go into the scroll case, I'd argue that drops of scrolls at lvl 6-9 at rare enough that we can just include them all in the list.
The main problem is such 'list' seems a bit cumbersome because what scrolls I'd like to keep off the case varies between characters, and if this list actually included ALL worthy scrolls in the PC market it would make it to 30% of the spells in the game and defeat it's own purpose, and I dont see it as a dev-time-worthy improvement over just checking your scroll case and fish out stuff you need before you bulk sell everything.

Zoo buffs, bless, prayer, aid, clarity.
They last a long time for Loremaster.

Re: Scroll Case Organization
That was kind of why I liked the suggestion of it scanning your inventory first. You select which ones to keep out of the case per character per that character's preferences and needs. If it isn't in your inventory then it goes into the case.
Re: Scroll Case Organization
I believe it should be possible to make a non-fixed list of filtering by using a stored string for parsing or faux array on the case itself, adding and removing based on selected items with a radial selection.
I would need to sit down and make a duplicate system to Areliths scroll storage to confirm the exact feasability but it would be easier than accounting for every scroll by hand.

Re: Scroll Case Organization
what about lumping categories, lumping by circle, or tier.
tier one, Zoo buffs, mage armor, bark skin, magic vestment, shield, knock, find traps
Tier two, haste, ultravision, darkness, see invisibility, improved invisibility, lesser mind blank, stone skin, Lesser spell breach
Tier three, Heal, greater stone skin, premonition, WoF, Mind blank, acid sheath, mass haste, protection from spells, Greater spell breach
tier four, Gate, time stop, summon IX, Elemental Swarm, mass heal
True sight and Mords as stand alone, as many people seem to exclusively use one or both.

I am glad you like it. Enjoy! I have to say it was fun writing a sorting algorithm for nwn.

Re: Scroll Case Organization
I'll bet it was! NWN Script is a fickle creature at times.
One thing i wanted to ask, would it be possible to make it check your lore for scrolls in your inventory when you try to store all?
I note it tends to ignore unidentified scrolls as when the cases were put in it simply grabbed all scrolls regardless of status and store them, identified.
I feel the response was a knee jerk reaction way back when, to simply not check lore vs identification state.
Edit for examples:
Low lore character has inventory of looted scrolls, uses potion of identify, maybe gets 10 scrolls. This would enable potion of identify into store all.
Looting bookshelves as a high lore character, manually identifying each scroll or finding a body to trigger the autoloot identify.
Just using store all would achieve the same.
