Sibayad Canyon quest and the time change

Post by Leema_Leema »

So with the time change if you unknowingly/mistakenly pick up the Sibayad Canyon of the Lost Kings quest you might not be able to complete it. I play roughly around the same time every day with only a small window of an hour or two on weeknights. With the time change on a 8 IRL hour = one IG day means Sibayad is always smack dab in the middle of the day and therefore the writ is impossible to complete because you can't pull undead out of the tombs for it to count. If you pick up the writ IG morning you could possibly have to wait ~4 IRL hours to have a chance to complete it. Maybe this should be looked at? Add a little cave area that always have undead just in case?

Edit:
So I've found that lassoing them and dragging them outside works but it feels a little loopholey and scuffed.

If dragging them outside is against the rules then I would be banned because I do that all the time. It does feel kind of cheesy and immersion breaking though.

Anyways, I agree, although I think it'd be cooler to just see different creatures in day/night - maybe some large carrion birds or other scavengers during the day.

Additionally, the endless battlefield in minmir has the same issue.

You just *cant* drag them outside. They dont follow.

And about the battlefield, it's just a speculation but I'm pretty sure they just spawn in greater numbers at night, but they also spawn at day.

Another writ impacted by day/night is the Guldorand copper mine, the formians don't spawn in the upper floor during the day. You could probably kill the miner NPCs but I don't know if that'd break factions (if your character would be down to murder for technical completion of a writ, that is).

The battlefield does spawn during the day. In fact, it can be easier to complete that writ during the day if you just return to it as opposed to getting overrun at night.

Battlefield does have spawns during the day, but they aren’t enough to complete the writ, which brings us back to the core issue here.

So the issue currently is that our days are TOO clean. 8 RL hours = 1 IG days, 24 RL hours = 3 IG days. That means that the nights are at the same RL time each day. What's more, for Underdarkers wanting to deal with surface, if they log into the wrong time of day, they need to wait whooping 4-5 RL hours to even get out and not burn their eyes out. So what if we had ticks go a bit more irregularly (assuming that's possible to code)? Say, still go every 15 IG minutes a tick from IG 22:00 till IG 08:00, but then go every 20 IG minutes a tick on the rest of time? If my math ain't off, this should result in total of 6 hours 40 minutes RL per IG Day, making them slowly shift along the timezones as days roll.

Currently playing: Vinur Reiziger (sorta shelved, sorta not), Samwell Twolife
