Magpie Theatre Dancers

Post by 2d6 emotional damage » Tue Jan 25, 2022 3:04 am

The NPC manager of the Magpie Theatre has dialogue encouraging players to utilize the stage and have free range to put on plays. He gives helpful advice for how to advertise and have a successful play. But, there's one small issue. The Magpie stage is always occupied by Burlesque Dancer NPCs. There is currently no means of getting them off the stage besides killing them or asking a DM to remove them. This is a shame, as the Magpie Theatre is easily the most aesthetic and visually attractive stage in the module. There is a degree of irony in that one of the only stages available for free impromtu use still requires some level of coordination with a DM to use.

This was brought up before but it was decided to just request DM removal when you want to use the stage. I still think realistically that it's hard to get hold of a DM for this at many times of the day, especially in /DM channel.

You can send a private message over forums to the DM group. List the times and dates when you wish the stage to be clear - be it the eve before performance, or even a day before if you need to place down fixtures and other scenery for an act.

Perhaps one day someone creates a script in dialogue that automates the process, but until that... asking DMs well beforehand is a good alternative.

Would be amazing to have either a switch or an NPC that could be spoken to in order to clear the stage so that things could happen spontaneously without the need for DMs!

it seems like a hassle to schedule something if someone wants to want to run a rehearsal or drag people to audition off the street all impromtu to have to get a DM every time they want to use the theatre. i guess its not a big deal. technically any place can be a stage if you want it to be, you can do thespian rp anywhere. the street, the town square, the bar, etc. its just a shame this very aesthetic cool open stage can't be used more without ooc coordination.

thank you for your replies.

Maybe an NPC to talk to or a lever to pull to make them take 5?

I've always thought it'd be nice if you could pay the NPC manager to have the dancers clear the stage for a number of hours depending on how much you pay (since you're stopping their show to put your own on, and potentially losing the Magpie some profit. So you pay the difference) - kind of like how town criers shout your message for as many hours as you pay for.

Was Lloyd Grimm, Sai Aung-K'yi, Stink Spellworped, Ikarus, and Revyn the White.

Or maybe the dancers themselves could be individually paid to wander off for awhile
