Writ work rank (Improved)
Dauntless Guild
Adventurers are individuals registered under the Dauntless Guild, regardless of race or ethnicity, who undertake quests offered from the Dauntless Guild and complete them in exchange for a monetary reward.
The nature and fatality of these requests can vary, including, but not limited to monster subjugation, escort, and investigation. Urgent mail delivery is a common job for the trade. To ensure that the adventurers are fairly compensated, there is a bare minimum sum that has to be offered by the poster of the said quest, as stipulated in the Association's rules and regulations.
It is not compulsory for an adventurer to form a party, as some are well known to be able to fend for themselves and manage alone. However, the likelihood of survival and success in carrying out quests would increase should they form a party. Still, many novice adventurers die on their first mission mostly due to underestimating their targets.
Registration and Tags
Upon filling out the dauntless sheet, newly registered adventurers are bestowed with a dog tag-like plate, stamped with the Dauntless Guild logo. The material of the tag serves as both an identification with the individual's personal details inscribed behind and a testament of their official rank.
As adventurers are the face the Dauntless Guild, the rank assigned to them during a promotion interview is made based on a variety of factors, such as their trustworthiness and ability in completing quests.
The Dauntless Guild tag is also used to corroborate the said-person's identity if anything happens to them. Should the body of a deceased adventurer be rendered unrecognizable, the tag will serve as identification.
Ranks
Adventurers are identified by the rank officially assigned to them by the Association of the Dauntless Guild. An adventurer's rank is recognized by the material used in one's licensed tag. The rank of Adventurers ascends from Rank 10 (Porcelain) to Rank 1 (Platinum).
The material for the tag is made depending on one's rank as an adventurer. All newly registered adventurers of the Dauntless Guild start off with a porcelain tag, indicating the lowest rank. As an adventurer's rank changes, so does the material of their tag.
Gold-ranked adventurers mainly work for the national government. Becoming Platinum-ranked is rare, and only a few people in history have attained this rank.
Rank 1: Platinum
Rank 2: Gold
Rank 3: Silver
Rank 4: Bronze
Rank 5: Ruby
Rank 6: Emerald
Rank 7: Sapphire
Rank 8: Steel
Rank 9: Obsidian
Rank 10: Porcelain

Re: Writ work rank (Improved)
The only part of this suggestion that I somewhat would be interested in seeing is in the very section (i.e. "...who undertake quests offered from the Dauntless Guild and complete them in exchange for a monetary reward") if it were expanded more. Currently we have mini-bosses that always spawn. I would be excited to see if there were mini-bosses that could spawn randomly in off-shot areas with no foot traffic, be far stronger than even main bosses of dungeons, and don't require someone taking a writ but rather their head just being turned in for large sums (likely in the tens of thousands due to the time put vs. just running a dungeon multiple times). They would be catered to level 30s.
If possible and even wilder if these creatures were not killed then the area they spawned in would see a huge surge of the spawns that normally spawn there; the justification could be that these spawns are emboldened behind the idea of an assumed untouchable, too-powerful creature that they themselves cannot be touched.
Such a system could give birth to hunting guilds and the ensuing conflicts between those guilds.

If the world were to instead encourage the gathering together of PCs in organisations (that may come and go as history and narrative dictates) then this would absolutely be a fantastic idea. I'd support something along those lines. An expansion of the goldname system towards this would be fun. We already kind of have a population system but I feel it could be expanded.Good Character wrote: ↑Fri Sep 23, 2022 3:25 pmI have to mirror Kuma's thoughts however I really feel the need to hammer in the second section of this suggestion; it feels like some sort of undue burden on the DMs to do these "interviews". Furthermore, scripts that offer undeniable proof that some person is X (e.g. Andunor Arena champion belt) have always personally left a bad taste in my mouth; it leaves no room for charlatans and room for those to investigate those charlatans. Thankfully only about five (e.g. Radiant, Andunor champ, slaves, pirates, and outcasts), to my knowledge, exist relative to that mechanic currently.

Whether it's on someone's radar to tweak is another question of course!

I agree with this, what I actually imagine is a way to make players who are already at level 30 get rewards in the form of quests with gold or items.Kuma wrote: ↑Fri Sep 23, 2022 5:31 amOne, the suggestion box is closed. But two, what does this offer that the existing systems don't - and what systems on your end as a PC would prevent you (or anyone else) from doing this as an in-character initiative as a sort of adventurers' guild? I'm genuinely asking this as I really like seeing PCs occupy this space in the world as opposed to everything having to be mechanical/module-side.
Re: Writ work rank (Improved)
This already exists in the form of gold and items from dungeons higher level than those offered by writs. Runic materials, rare loot, etc. I don't particularly think there's a gap needing filled here mechanically, and if there is one narratively, PCs should offer it themselves. I'm somewhat opposed to the continued MMO-ification of adding more "dailies" and mechanical quests to the server (though this isn't my call!).The Banned One wrote: ↑Fri Sep 23, 2022 5:18 pmI agree with this, what I actually imagine is a way to make players who are already at level 30 get rewards in the form of quests with gold or items.
