3 Brass Ingots recipe

Post by FelightEE » Sat May 20, 2023 5:14 pm

So the new recipe for Brass Ingots

Using 2 Zinc ingotss and 1 Copper ingot to make 3 Brass ingots.

It seems to me the DC and the CP cost have been flipped

Current DC 2
Current CP 12

This seems extreme compared to the other recipes and would make better sense if the values were flipped. Current CP cost for one ingot of brass with this recipe is 5 with the cp required to make the base ingots, it also uses twice as much coal than using the base Brass ingot recipe.

So unless this recipe was made for people rocking with smithing level 1, then the values have to be incorrect.

The Bronze-from-Ingots and Brass-from-Ingots recipes are not actually intended to be used with ingots you've smelted yourself, purposefully for making these recipes using ingots. You can find lots of free ingots doing PvE from a pretty robust variety of sources: and while Zinc and Tin ingots are basically worthless on their own, these recipes allow you to convert them into bronze/brass at very favorable rates, even if you have to manually smelt the copper yourself - using zinc ingots you've found and copper you smelted, you get 3 brass ingots for 4 coal (vs. for 6 coal, smelting from ore.)

And if you also found the copper ingots laying around on monsters, well. Now you've got yourself a stew.

what would fred rogers do?

Thanks for bringing up Bronze from ingots, which as I've said the main point is DC 12, CP 2. That coal part was still so full of holes that I won't go into it.

The problem with the new recipe is the relatively obscenely large CP cost which cannot be anything than a typo to make any sense.

12 cp for a dedicated smith is 6 cp. This is something you do with all the zinc ingots you find beating up contstructs around the server, like flower power mentioned, and not something you need to do when busting out brass ingots. it's also a good way for non-dedicated smiths to make bronze/brass, if the dc is actually 2, which means the extra cp is probably right. I wouldn't over think it.

Given that 3-Bar Bronze is DC12 CP2, I fairly certain 3-Bar Brass is also supposed to be DC12 CP2 and that the current DC2 CP12 is just a mistake - the numbers are just flipped.
