For instance if:
- You've been to an area before
- It's a wilderness area, and you're a ranger.
Would you want an explored map to appear? Or do you prefer your map to revert to unexplored so you can use it to track where you've been?

Yes, but I don't want it pre-explored for any reason. Even Rangers have to learn the land.

Would it include caves? You can have a ranger specifically trained and adapted to travel and scout cave systems and what not. I guess if this is added it would make sense to have all such areas due to the ranger's diverse roleplay?
id love if there was some -favored terrain feature such as in 5e for rangers but thats for another topic (if there was it would be cool that only your favored terrain explored maps were saved)

If possible, it would be nice if it could be regional (set up through a command or something) and that basically sets your home region where you will be most active (e.g. Bendir Dale, Bramble Wood, Skull Crags, Arelith Forest, etc.). For example, my character is a ranger active in the Skull Crags, she knows the lay of the land in the Crags and up to New Guldorand like the back of her hand. So, I think it would stand to reason that she should have the maps of its wilderness areas memorized, and so, visible to me as a player.

I would love this! I always found it incredibly annoying that the maps don't remain explored, and it would be very flavorful for rangers to have an innate understanding of their region without putting additional pressure on the player (my sense of direction is hilariously bad).
