Potions of Shield will not apply to summons

Description
==========
When feeding summons/followers in general, most potions work normally. However, whenever you try to feed a summon or follower a potion of shield, it applies it to the leader instead. All other potions work correctly, healing, buffing etc.

Steps to reproduce
----------------------------
Try to feed any summon a potion of shield.

Expected result
-----------------------
Summon gets shield.

Actual result
-------------------
The Shield is applied to the person, not the target.

--------------------

Notes
---------
I am aware that shield is a "caster/self" spell, but this is not using a scroll or a wand, it's using a potion that anyone can drink for effect. It should allow them to obtain a shield because they are the ones being fed the potion.

All spells with the same targeting do this. The same will happen for Ghostly Visage or Death Armour, for example.

Death Armor can definitely be applied to summons. That said, Shield potions have never worked on summons, and I suspect that's intentional.

Death armor 100% works on summons.

And to state it, it makes 0 sense on why you can feed a summon a Potion of Heal, a Barkskin Potion, a Stonemead, a Lesser Regen and a Death Armor potion... But a shield applies to you alone?

Nah, that doesn't track.

Hopefully this won't have balance implications. ^^

I agree with the OP that it makes little sense. Some potions work some doesnt but

Shield on summons , henchmen, dominated.. I mean 4AC does seem like alot.
What feels too strong is Potion of Truestrike on them.

How does the fix work?
Which potions are excluded from this due to balance reasons?

The Shield spell script was changed to no longer default to OBJECT_SELF (which is the caster) but rather apply to the creature targeted by the spell (usually the caster unless you're feeding your summon a potion).

This will not affect any other potions.

Does this mean I will be able to cast Shield on other people as well?

I think, pursuant to the potion itself, it will only apply to potions of shield. Scrolls, Wands, spells of shield as well as other associated potions aren't being changed.

Just potion of shield.

No, because the Shield spell targeting is limited to "self only" in the 2da.
Since the spell won't let you target others, you can only cast it on yourself - except for the potion interaction mentioned above.
