Writing in languages other than Common

Post by Red_Wharf » Sun Oct 18, 2020 10:56 pm

The title is self-explanatory. It could work like this:

Whenever you finish writing something on a piece of paper, the contents of the paper will appear in whatever language the character had its language set to. Say if you use the command -un before writing a note, the note's contents will be written in Undercommon.

When reading the note (either from a note item on the inventory or one pinned to a board), a character fluent in the language the note was written with will obviously understand it right away, but if the character isn't fluent, they may or may not understand what's written, exactly like it works when another character is speaking a language they don't know. I only think the chance to understand a written text should be easier than understanding something spoken.

To avoid people spamming the note, maybe it should work like disguise breaking. If not fluent, you can only try translating the same note only once per server tick.

I don't think understanding a written note should add % to learning a language, it would be too easy to exploit it, unless the % is limited to a X amount of notes per server tick.
