Ten Years Into the Wind

Post by CragOrion »

So Kyle is officially shelved for at least the next RL year. Once that year comes back around, I don't know where I'll be, but if I'm still here on Arelith, I'll decide then what to do with him. He's currently gone from the island, set sail while the big bad celestial avenger wasn't looking (I'm lookin at you, Az!). There are people who know where he went, so it will be a FOIG thing, but if anybody does find out and wants to try and find him or track him down, just let me know. You can find me on Discord, on skype, or just here on the forums. Drop me a line and we can discuss it.

But in the meanwhile!

Kudos time!

Whether or not Kyle gets permed when the year comes back around, a very big chapter has closed in his life, and nothing will ever be the same for him again. And there are quite a few people that deserve to be mentioned, so without further ado...

Eilonna (pre-delivery) - Elo was such an important part of Kyle's life. They went back and forth for a while, from estrangement, to allies, to tolerated annoyance, to allies again, and then finally to lovers. When the Sarina fiasco hit, Eilonna was such a source of strength and outlet for frustration for him, and a constant reminder of what it meant to be truly compassionate.

Akira Mirna, aka Axina - His girlfriend for a hot minute, and someone who dragged him forcefully back from the big gaping pit of despair he was sinking into after the close to the Sarina fiasco. She may not have seen him through the woods, but she got him through the worst of it. Its been so hard to watch Akira as she develops and not be able to be there to be a part of it, but she's got her path and its one that much of the time stays out of the way of Kyle's. But even despite his worries, he never gave up on her, and always believed that she could be destined for great things. Despite the arguments they'd had along the way, he never stopped caring, and never stopped believing in her. And as an aside...one of the most beautifully and deeply played paladins I've seen.

Tera'thiel Eldafire - His great great uncle, who was always so deeply played, who never forgot what it meant to be an Eldafire, an elf, or a paladin. I count myself extremely lucky that I ever convinced you to play him, man, you've done a fantastic job. I don't think anyone could have done Tera bettter. The guy is much deeper than meets the eye for sure, and I hope he sticks around even without Kyle. Calel will surely need a PROPER role model.

Eric Lugger - From the day they went on that expedition to find the sword, Kyle has always known that Eric was destined for great things. Kyle has always seen him as the best of what the Temple had to offer, and was happy to let him take up the reigns on the Sword quest when he fell into disgrace. Lugger has done an awesome job pulling the whole temple together and getting it active. Keep it up man, rough times may be ahead, but Eric is the one to pull them through it.

Arael Laceflower - There is no way to possibly explain how much I loved this character. She was awesome, and a patriot of Cordor, which was nice to see someone else do and get others to follow suit. She opened up so many possibilities and brought so much meaning to Kyle's roleplay, even though he didn't believe at first, watching her MADE him believe. If Kyle hadn't been such a disbeliever at first, he very likely would have fallen deeply in love with her (he still kind of did, though he would never admit it to himself). But then, it was hard NOT to fall in love with Arael, as so many people would tell you. I was glad that they at least got to become good friends before the end. And even after she died, he never forgot the kind of woman she was or what she would have demanded of him. He so many times would ask himself when faced with adversity, WWAD (what would Arael do), and that became his guiding mantra in so many things, especially on matters of Cordor. Well, not that part where he murdered his wife...but...maybe? Who says Cordoria can't exercise a little wrath now and again! Just should have been smarter about it! XD

Siyu - Such a major influence on kyle and brought major reprocussions that affected his attitudes and actions long after she died. He never stopped feeling that little Siyu part of him, and he knows just how disappointed in him she is, or would be.

Elise Davontis - His first on-camera crush, and a valuable ally and friend. I always greatly enjoyed the time he spent getting to know and playing with her, and always wonder if things might have gone differently if a certain monk hadn't returned and taken her away at just the wrong (or right, depending on your perspective) time. I really loved what you were trying to do with the tower at the time, even if you got a lot of flak for trying. Not many people had tried, and for an institution like that, it took a lot of gumption.

Temple People - Cath'shee, Klaus, Arcavius, Noirin, and Gareth, you were all so important to him, and he hated having let you all down. The temple has become an awesome faction, active and full of wonderfully nice people people. Don't give up guys! There is more great fun to come, trust in the Lugger!

The Guard - Drift, Shade, Vincent, Kyomi, you guys helped get him started in government, and the rp was always so much fun, even when Shade was pranking the crap out of him XD seriously, those slash fanfics she wrote were absolutely priceless. Drift was so awesomely awesome, the big guy with the heart of gold.

Snow - They didn't know each other well at all for the longest time, and even had a good nasty argument, but after that, so much respect was exchanged for the other, and her compassion despite what she had to do to him touched his heart. I know govt rp can be hecktic and overwhelming at times, but hang in there, you did a great job!

Shauna - Something that turned from distrust, to respect, to unerring grattitude and friendship, even when he found out about who she was dating.

Team Evil - Sarina and Sabine. You guys slay me...heh, no really, Sarina was such a huge factor in the man that Kyle eventually became. He changed so much after her fiasco, and Sarina was just masterful at her manipulation of him. And Sabine, an evil bitch straight to the core, but I love the player so much, she was always so accomodating anytime I had any requests or concerns. Always think about making things fun for everybody. The RP'd fights they had were some of my very favorite confrontations I've ever been a part of. And despite the many times I gave you the option of perming Kyle, you never took the easy win. You impress me with your graciousness, and I have got to mention the loss of the sword here. You guys set up kyle so masterfully, set up that betrayal so completely and so skillfully, while I was sorry for Kyle as I saw it happened, I was so impressed as I watched it progress, and that is why I was happy to give you guys the win. Kyle may not have given away the sword, but ~i~ did gladly, because you guys deserved it. And then you got kyle one more time in the end too, when you took Arael from him. Noone has ever had such a profound impact on Kyle's life as Sarina has, not even his wife or the woman he shared an elven bond with.

Team Cordor - Elwood, Valentina, Casius, Erasmus, Arl, guys, thanks for the respectful rp you guys gave me even though some of us might have been kind of on opposite sides, and thanks for giving kyle a chance to work for the city and not just firing him

Azrael - You weren't around alot, but when you were, it was always quality rp. I'm only sorry we always had to be at such odds. Keep on keepin on, man (and thanks for whooping Horus for me XD )

In spite of Kyle being someone who was at odds with Lacroix a few times.. it still shocked Lacroix and saddened him to see what happened.. hopefully though Kyle can mend and improve as a result.

Kudos to Kyle! Since the very beginning Eric looked up to Kyle and was baffled by how much history that character had and knew about the island! He grew so much from both the good and bad sides of Kyle, which felt very human, flawed, extremely interesting character. Thank you for showing us the way to the Sword of Benwick. I think the Temple grew so much around that quest and we are still going strong thanks to that!

On the backstage I love how Crag put so much thought into the Eldafire lineage and plans ahead of time for the children playable characters, building up a legacy of years IRL.
Also Crag was never the sort of player that shun away when his character got into trouble, he would always log back and deal with the consequences IC no matter what. Great job.

See you around the corner!

Well done. You've done broke me elf. Seriously though. I've seen you come up with some great ones. From our time sailing the high seas loosing arrows at stuff then getting party wiped by a mind controlled Buster. But Kyle was always a loved family member for Tera. And no the way things have progressed? Who knows. Keep coming up with these belters mate.
