Lissa Whitehorn

Post by Xerah »

Lissa Whitehorn has returned home to Lantan. Thanks to everyone that made Lissa a lot of fun to play. It was really cool being able to get creative with her and her artificing abilities and I’m thankful that so many people let me run with that kind of thing. Sometimes it could be a lot of work keeping up with everyone, so I’m sorry if I let thing drop/forgot about them—it was never done with malice.

So more specific thanks.

The Arcane Tower:

Just an amazing group of players. I had a lot of fun playing here and they always made me feel welcome, even if I disappeared for a few months to be mayor of Bendir and stuff. Jacob, Angela, Jadoth, Paddy, Erin, Bhando, Jasper, Astra, Thulk and others will all be remembered fondly.

I’m really happy to help shape the Tower over the last 3 months and I hope I left it better than when I entered.

The gnomes:

The gnomes were an interesting group. I’ve played a lot of gnomes in NWN, but nowhere else have I seen these kinds of numbers that made it actually feel like gnomes were more than just a joke. Terto, Dylo, Lorina, and Smith being the most influential in her life.

Lissa and Terto had a strange relationship. One that is best described by keeping dangerous people close to making sure one can keep an eye on them. Not everyone saw things that way and it ended up going causing more than a few kerfuffles.

The Halflings:

Lissa had a very difficult relationship with Halflings, more so than anyone else. From Buppi to Andy to Alex to Kera, each of them had both major positives and major negatives to her development. It was quite a bumpy road.

That said, one of Lissa’s best friends was a halfling, Katie, who I enjoyed quite a lot. She was one of the major influences for her to see more than just what was on the surface

Dwarves:

Lissa never had a good relationship with the dwarves, which the exception of Garmr and Falgrim. Those two always gave her hope!

Others:

Alara and Akira were two characters that Lissa enjoyed quite a lot. It was a shame that we travelled in very different circles and never got enough time to spend together, but the small times were always the best.

Snow and Lacroix were two of the earlier characters that Lissa was involved with and they always maintained a close friendship.

DM Titania: Nothing developed her character more than the Spriggan event. Lissa went from optimistic and naive to something much more pragmatic and deceptive. It was a shift for survival, which gave me so much more to explore with the character.

Sorry if I missed anyone (I did) but there are just so many over the past (almost) year. Thanks again to everyone who helped shape her!
Katernin Bersk, Chancellor of Divination; Kerri Amblecrown, Paladin of Milil; Xull'kacha Auvry'rae, Redcap Fey-pacted; Sadia yr Thuravya el Bhirax, Priestess of Umberlee; Lissa Whitehorn, Archmage of Artifice

Lissa's touch is everywhere on the server! I'm really sad to see her return to Lantan. Glinda tried hard to get to know her fellow alma mater, but I could see it was nearing the end of Lissa's story.

May Lissa's work inspire new and upcoming visiting scholars to start development on the ATLANTIS (Arelith to Lantan Automatic Nautical Transportation Infrastructure System), so that more scholars can bring technological progress to this not-too-primitive-yet-chaotic isle.

I loved Lissa, from their work relationship to almost barely friends, to grumping. I'll miss reading Lissa's diary and inventions and seeing someone play a character that just happened to be a gnome, rather than their race being their entire character.

Lissa was awesome. I'll miss her inventions and diary entries (although I hope you continue them!). I loved running into Lissa with Yeto, we always had fun discussions and Yeto was hoping she could make him wings some day!

She was the gnome that made me want to hang with more gnomes, and I love finding her little inventions around the isle (and her wands!). Nicely done overall.

Lissa will be missed. I had fun roleplaying with her on Erin. I had fun roleplaying with her on Nehala. She was Erin's best and most successful student, and she was Nehala's friend. I can't wait to see your future characters and I sincerely can't wait for what you'll do next. <3

as Smith i had huge fun to RP with Lissa, from being trusted ally to huge change during "Spriggan Saga" after not ending in ideal place making all gnome as bit "heavy" in character, what war actually does to people. Also your IC story was one of my favorites reads in that section.

Kudos and thank you for all the tea!

Ahh I'm glad Astra is up there~ I'd hopped to get more rp with them since the two seemed to have a odd relationship, One of a mentor, cause she did help in getting her thesis rolling, finely, even if it did take me a bit more time to write it, and other times Astra was worried Lissa didn't like her.
(Yes the Elf was scared of the gnome xD)

Aww, Wotan will miss Lissa, he's getting really lonely for the lack of gnomes in the isle these days.
I'm glad getting the chance to play with her, she was one of the very first gnomes Wotan met beside Vysarene, Ivory, Smith and Terto. Kudos and thanks for all the roleplay!

Lisssa was one of a few who ever got to see Katie's deeper self behind the mask.

She is also my favorite gnome that has graced this server in the eight years I've played. Thank you for blessing us with her.

Thank you SO much for letting Bhando glimpse into her story and, at times, even be a part of it. I only hope he was able to add at least a little bit of flavor to Lissa's world. Because she definitely added to his- both directly and indirectly, in very powerful, lasting, and endearing ways.

Her presence will be missed. :'(

And yes, her inventions and creativity were AWESOME. To me, this contributed so much incredibly vibrant color to Arelith's immersive palette.

Thank you for the Kudos and right back at you. Even if it saddens me to see Lissa go, it was a reasonable decission which Terto could not contest, (even if he wanted too).

I adored everything about Lissa, from the inventions to the diary, (which I followed meticuliously). She is a shining example in the ways Gnome are different to the other Earthkin. I am very glad that I and Terto had the oppertunity to roleplay with such character and with you.

For the strange relationship between them, I have to agree. Not truly trusting one another were they, considering how Lissa decided to keep some artifacts from him, even when he asked for them, and Terto certainly not telling her the entirety of the story?

Lampshading:
Why would one need those specific things?

I hope you will find great joy with Arelith still, and your comming characters. Hopefully will we be seeing you on a Gnome in near future?
