Quests

Post by Ork »

I searched, and I searched, and I searched ...but I was unable to find a thread thanking yellowcateyes & others to tag on to for their work on the quest system on Arelith.

This system has totally revolutionized the "grind" and breeds reason and purpose into adventure. Thank you for your revolutionary contribution. Redefined Arelith in such a positive way.

Love the quests, best change to leveling in Arelith I've seen.

Joining the kudo-ing here, awesome work by Yellowcateyes! Not only the system itself, but also the content: 121 quests and counting!

As a new/returning player, this is an incredible system and I love it.

Yeah, I can't really kudo this one enough. Despite all we've done these last years this line of updates feels incredibly special. The phrase 'how did I ever live without this?' comes to mind.

Simply put its added far greater playability. I know in Arelith we make our own stories, and that fixed quests were avoided for quite some time, but so often when playing I would wander around, largely directionless. Perhaps my imagination wasn't firing on all cylinders, but despite all the visual loveliness and player intrigue I'd find myself just doing the same old thing again and again.

It doesn't just add something for those of us that have played here for years, but makes Arelith far more accessible for new players - something which is about to become very crucial.

The potential is also just so great. I want to see more detailed/unique quest objectives and generally a far great variety in 'quest types', but as it stands it is already excellent.

I sometimes avoid diving into kudos threads, as it can come across like patting myself on the back, but in this case it was all Yellowcateyes, and I'm not kudoing this as the 'boss' but simply as a player who has felt themselves fired up and motivated to get online and do stuff. Now that is special.

Kudos!

I can say nothing but positive things about this project and the person behind it.

A fantastic idea implemented in such a way as to produce a sense of immersion and flavored with a little impish humor.

I haven't gotten to use it much myself since 20+ on current characters, but the fallout and direction it has been supplying to RP has been distinct and noticeable.

Wonderful work and then some.

(And who can complain about new and interesting ways to get experience anyway?)

Yes. The quests have turned leveling a lowbie from the brutal, soul crushing, slog that it used to be into something more fun, while also making it easier to make friends your own level or above. I am no longer required to find someone my own level to go dungeoning with to make it worth my while, I can do it with people way above or way below me, and the exp at the end will be entirely worth it.

A true quality of life improvement for all of us. Cheers!

Before this i would expect such idea to promote grind over adventuring as its on WoW but it did just the opposite, people cooperating and rping more.

What i would like to see is quest system cross breed with DMs stories, unique quests as tools of dms that would require more players cooperating, or some competetive between factions, i hope NWN:EE give such tools to servers and staff.
