I have decided that the Rosen Sky has lost it's steam and it is time to retire the faction. For the past few weeks I have been busy irl, and also busy icly. I have not been able to give the faction the attention it deserves, and much of the subordinate leadership has either been shelved or rolled. I am sad to see it go but I am also proud of what we have accomplished with it.
The RSC/Free Ship Alara was one heckin' amazing ride. I have so many kudos to give out here that this post is going to be one giant wall of text. I am also going to gloat a little. I believe that I created and ran one of the most successful factions on the server and I caused a stir, made a lot of waves (pun intended), and inspired others on an ooc level. Alice became one of the most notorious characters around and shook things up. The compassionate Sunite who truly just wanted to protect her home, became known as a fearsome and bold buccaneer. But of course none of that success would have been possible without the crew beside her and all the people who somehow hopped in on the ride, be they friend, enemy, or frenemy. So without further ado... KUDOS!
Each of these kudos equally goes to the player behind the character as well as the character.
The WHOLE crew!: Whether you came on for just one voyage and I never saw you again, or you were a regular sailor from start to finish, each of you gets your own massive kudos. I hope that you all enjoyed going on voyages and had fun with the privateering rp as much as I did. I also apologize for not having as much activity towards the end.
Anyone who ever came aboard to sail at least once: Often times regular crew would be unavailable and Alice dragged along any adventurer she could find. I owe much of the success not only to the official members of the crew faction but also to those who came along spur of the moment when Alice called upon them. Thank you.
Sydney Harrow: I remember the very first time that Alice and Sydney crossed paths. Each meeting after that was equally tense, even during the brief time that Alice didn't totally hate Sydney and sort of respected her (which didn't last very long for Alice). I also OOC had a smug feeling when I read Sydney's recruitment post for the Liberator shortly after Alice started organizing the crew. Sydney is a great character to interact with and she certainly had her influence on Alice's development and in a roundabout way the crew's in general. Plus we need rival sailors to keep the tension up!
Eirik Skuring: A special mention to you. You took a very active role in the crew as a midshipman. Going out on voyages on times when I was unavailable, helping out with recruitment and such as well. Thank you for helping with all that and contributing to the life and excitement.
Gorudan, Ghestaldt, and the Dominion's Leadership: For actually providing the letter of marque to make Alice truly a privateer. The rp of getting the letter itself was the first step, and that first step alone was fun. And seeing the ic support from Brogendenstein added a lot. And then coming aboard Brogendenstein's new ship to show the landlubbing dwarves how sailing is done was a fun treat.
Nehala: That moment when Alice was just starting to recruit the first batch of sailors and Nehala insulted Alice's little "sailboat" was a major defining moment. Alice quickly grew to loathe Nehala and have a strong desire to show her who's boss and prove her wrong, which gave her a lot of fire.
Sencliff Pirates: In addition to Sydney, I'm also giving a shoutout to the leading figures of Sencliff and the lower ranks as well. Sencliff in general gets a kudos. At first as a privateer Alice was sorta friendly and hung out in Sencliff for business, and then for the last month she instead took to attacking the Warship and Liberator as she declared Sencliff to be an enemy. From the greenhorn pirates that Alice+Crew scared off and extorted, to the leaders that she pissed off by doing so, kudos to you. Josidiah Niedre, watching you start in the crew and then later just go full pirate was fun. Bonzo, although we didn't get to really face off the little bit of back and forth we had going for a rivalry was entertaining, a shame we didn't get a chance to really fight but I hope that later we will. And Vance Gravelle... You know what you did.
Katie Popkins and the Players: I knew Alice was becoming famous but dang. Having a play written about her? That was amazing. Alice was already enjoying some limelight but whew! And the play was well done. Very cheesy, but it was also compelling to watch/read. Excellent job. Kudos as well to the players that acted in it. I and Alice both are touched and honored
DM Titania and Grumpycat: The events that you two gave us were amazing. You both already got kudos from us for them but you deserve more. The pirate hunting events still remain to be the most fun events that I have done, and I'm sure that many of the other players that participated in them would still agree.
And to anyone who ever called Alice a pirate: Thank you for the added tension and drama. It's true that a privateer is a pirate with a fancy piece of paper, regardless of their motivation for getting said paper. Getting people to see her as a noble protector instead of a greedy fortune seeker was a fun obstacle to face.
I could keep going on of course but I have to end this somewhere. So with this, the sweet and affectionate Sunite who became a fearless and determined privateer patriotically defending her home, now retires from her career as a legalized lady of fortune. She hangs up her captain's coat. For now. Maybe in the future if the winds blow right she'll take to the sea again.

Kudos From the Bonnie Privateer
Oh the year was 1778...

Man it's a real shame Bonzo never got to show off his charming personality.
He put the whole crew on motion with all kinds of plans after that gnome popped up! At least I got to send a letter.
