Tomb of the First King (spoilers?)

Post by sexy and brooding dark lord »

It's a really good dungeon and has been out for a while, but I think it needs a few things before I can say it's complete:

1) The End boss is too hard compared to the rest of the dungeon, I think its needed to be scaled down a bit.

2) The part where you run from the sand golems... If someone does it before you and pulls the lever there the door remains locked. A lever should ve added to the infront of the door so it can be opened from inside. Also I think no monsters other than sand golems should spawn here.

3) Remove disarm from the sand golmes, the are deadly enough on their own, and losing your weapon is no fun.

4) Remove dismissal from war mages... It just makes resting required more often and doesn't provide much of a challenge if you are properly prepared.

Thanks a lot again for the awesome server and dungeons :)

Can solo the last boss in that tomb on an adequately leveled rogue.

The last boss at the Tomb that has the giant mummies, now he's overpowered compared to the rest. The other bosses are fine, in my opinion.

I've always been under the impression the sand golems weren't meant to be fought, considering how they're vastly stronger than everything else in the area, but super slow and easy to avoid if you don't run yourself into a corner or over a disabling trap. Having that hallway door locked -is- annoying though. Don't have the ability to pick door locks? I hope you have a portal lense, because now you're trapped with a wall of sand golems behind you!

The end boss is pretty reasonable compared to the rest of the area. Getting dispelled will make it harder, sure, but its not nearly as bad as the aforementioned giant mummy boss in another tomb.

The sand golems are most definitely meant to be skipped. It's a gauntlet area that they can't pass (on either side), you definitely just run by them.
Other spawns should be removed from that section though, and the door being locked like that I also agree needs to be sorted.

They're big enough to attack you the entire time on the bridge, and there's multiple Slow traps, though.

I've run that gauntlet dozens of times without taking a single hit.

The traps are placed in such a way that once you know the pattern it's actually quite obvious and easy to avoid, and as long as you keep moving the golems generally don't have time to attack you.

At the worst i've gone through there and taken one or two hits.

First time I went in I did try to fight them, and died, but it was pretty obvious from the second time after exploring it and seeing the layout and how it all worked that it was meant to be a gauntlet you run through, and it's one you definitely can run through with little risk if done correctly.

I only agree with the second point about the lever, I've been saying that a couple of times already.
I'd add the fact that Sand Golems/Protectors Knights should spawn every time, sometimes they don't.

It's just obnoxious. Doesn't really feel like it adds anything, and if the lever's been messed with wrong, you're just stuck.

Also, the tomb having three Knight Protectors, instead of one Knight Valiant, one Knight Protector, and one Knight Vanguard totally feels like a missed opportunity to integrate mechanics into the server lore/aesthetic!

There needs to be lever before doors leading into it, with timer.

Running trough golems is fine. It adds diversity (not everything you just bash, be smart like Lara Croft!). There should be more similar places all over Arelith where brute force will not help you.

It's a nice idea in theory, but in practice all it really serves to do is occasionally kill people who've never done the dungeon before, through no fault of their own.

There's no indication that the golems aren't really fightable. My first tine through the dungeon, I spawned them and immediately took a step back through the door to bottleneck them... and then got the absolute tar beaten put of me because they're not really fightable. Then I wasn't able to actually run past them because they all crowded the door.

Sure, it may create a cool moment of people needing to vary their tactics or whatever, but it's also going to kill people for unfair reasons.

Perhaps adding a "Brave Tomb Robber" corpse there and sign saying only death awaits who dare to challenge the great king etc can be a nice way to warn people about warning not fighting the golems.
