Totem form, EDK and Shades

Post by Nekonecro »

Hey, so I'm a wizard with a ranger dip. Took a parrot totem for flavour on my summons.
Now however my EDK and Shades don't take the form of a parrot anymore?
Could I get an explaination to the change as I've lost a nice piece of fun to my character?
I'm kinda upset over this, they used to make me smile so much.

I'm sad if this is an intentional change. It was a nice bit of flavour for casters taking a ranger dip, and great for those wanting to add a little nature RP into their character.

I can understand the barring of other streams like SHADOWS, UNDEAD, PLANAR - but the change of the EDK doesn't change much and fits well with totemic druids.

Haven't tested it, but I don't see how making EDK un-totem-able would seem like a good and necessary step.

I'm providently upset over it too until it's proven a bug or oversight, not only because it screws over a (imo) cool part of my concept, but also because totems have been a really really cool way to flavour concepts in general.

There was a bug in the system that allowed people to use totemic shape summons even without fulfilling the level / class pre requisites.

This bugfix was supposed to address that, and in addition stop undead/aberrations/outsiders/devils/demons to take totemic forms.
Beasts/animals/magical beasts (including dragons - if totemic level requirements are met) should not have been affected. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We’ll be tweaking further.

What's a totemic level requirement?

EDK still yields a dragon.

The fix for this will be a few days before it’s in.

Totemic level requirements: Totem Druid Levels, or Totem Ranger levels.

So, let me throw in a "ferrinstance"

ferrinstance, what if my wizard who took the Ranger Dip to acquire the Ranger-Totem decided that the Ranger levels turned out to be too much of a detriment fo the build, and -removed- the ranger levels through de-leveling after the Totem was already applied... there is a protection in place to remove the totem-forms from my wizard, so that the summoned creatures could go back to normal, yes?

Pretty sure that this is the reason that they have implemented a check for class and level on casting a summon.

The addition that some summons no longer gets "totemized" is a new feature...

I don't think the EDK has been fixed up yet.
