"Surge will make sure the next spell cast will always produce a wild surge. Wild surges always replenish the last spell cast for the user."
Which means that the expected result upon using surge is having the spell I cast replenished, yet that result doesn't always occur and half the times surge is used, you get a wild surge as stated, but the spell you used for the surge is not replenished.
Whenever a wild mage casts an arcane spell, there's a natural 5% that a Greater Wild Surge will trigger. Whenever this happens, both the spell and the surge will take place, and there's a chance that the spell will be replenished.
To replenish a spell, a d100 is rolled against a DC defined by the WM's level and the spell's circle. The DC is lowered by 1 for each wild mage Level and an additional 3 for every 6th wild mage Level, so at level 30 the DC reduced by 45 with and 50% chance of replenishing a level 9 spell.
Circle 1-4: Automatic success
Circle 5 Spell DC: 35
Circle 6 Spell DC: 50
Circle 7 Spell DC: 65
Circle 8 Spell DC: 80
Circle 9 Spell DC: 95
Epic: N/A
If the spell is casted from any other spellbook, the spell will not be replenished.
The infinite spells granted by Greater Spell Focus cannot trigger surges.
Katernin Bersk, Chancellor of Divination; Kerri Amblecrown, Paladin of Milil; Xull'kacha Auvry'rae, Redcap Fey-pacted; Sadia yr Thuravya el Bhirax, Priestess of Umberlee; Lissa Whitehorn, Archmage of Artifice
It may be wise to edit this to reflect on what actually occurs then, as how it is phrased in a way that make it seem like using the -surge feat (which guarantees 100% surge on the next spell) also guarantees the replenishment of the spell.
The -surge command used to replenish spells when I played my Wild Mage, about 7 months ago. If this hasn’t intentionally been changed, it sounds like something’s not working as it should.
Were you in -chaos mode when you used the surge ability?
If so, that might be why. To my knowledge, -chaos prevents spells from being replenished.
It was definitely on a DC previously. Maybe that changed in the meantime.

I was not on chaos, no, the spell sometimes replenished and sometimes didn't, when chaos was off and I used the -surge feat alone. as Xerah says, like if it was rolling a dice for the replenishment, the description of the feat just reads that it's supposed to always replenish so I thought it was a bug. Which is why I reported it.

Thank you for clearing it up.
Originally the surge replenished any spell of any level when cast. This was nerfed about two years ago to be as it is now, only 1-4 gets 100% and diminishing returns on higher levels. Looks like that text on the feat is based on old info.

Yeah this is correct. Its DC based on 5th circle spells and above. I forgot to update the text on the command and Mord probably just copy pasted the description from there when adding it to Haks.
