-loadoutfit no longer loading description
So like the title says, Load outfit no longer loads the saved description associated with the outfit. Tested this on a new character and tested this on a character who saved the description a few weeks ago to be sure it is not a bug with -saveoutfit. This is a recent change.
Serious bug for people who rely on this feature to properly RP a disguise. Please look into this as many of us invest a lot of thought in our different descriptions and rely on them shifting to not give away our character ICly.
Description of Bug Experienced:
Using the -loadoutfit command to change outfits does not change description.
Steps to reproduce the Bug:
Set description using "-description I Want This".
Save outfit using -saveoutfit NAME.
Change description using "-description to I'm Stuck with This!".
Load original description using -loadoutfit NAME.
Expected Result:
description will read "I Want This"
Actual Result:
description reads "I'm Stuck with This!"

Re: -loadoutfit no longer loading description
I am reading this and I might be confused, or maybe you are?
I see your comment about this being important for someone that wants to use a disguise with the -disguise command, but wonder how or why this would have any real effect as no other player can see the description of your outfit unless you remove the outfit (your armor) and show it to them either in the barter menu or drop it on the ground.
Perhaps you are referring to the description that people see upon inspecting a characters 'bio'? This would be the same place where you see if they have pirate tattoos or are wearing a Radiant Heart Pin. If that is the case that is changed with the -description command which brings up a menu that allows you create or edit your characters description and then save it. This does work and if you save the description under the same name as the disguise name it will toggle the descriptions with disguise changes.
For example, if I create a description that says
The -loadoutfit with the -saveoutfit with the -r option (to replace an outfit) only switches around the armor part numbers and colors to my knowledge.

and then save that using"You man in dark cloths and wearing a dark cloak with the hood pulled low over, concealing most of his face."
I can then later use-description +save Dark Cloaked Man
and the character's description (or bio) will automatically change to that and revert back to my base description when I use-disguise Dark Cloaked Man
later on to remove the disguise.-disguise

Re: -loadoutfit no longer loading description
If you have a description with the same name as the outfit saved, it auto loads the description as well. Or used to, evidently! Always worked for me in the past at least.msheeler wrote: Fri Nov 15, 2019 10:18 pm The -loadoutfit with the -saveoutfit with the -r option (to replace an outfit) only switches around the armor part numbers and colors to my knowledge.

From the wiki, emphasis added:
Honestly it makes more sense to tie it to outfit because it 1.) Forces people to think about their clothing when disguised 2.) Your "bio" or character description should be just a description of your appearance, It inherently changes when you change clothes.
This used to work, i mean, just a few weeks ago. It is particularly useful is your disguise is not an alter ego but purely a disguise. ie you change your clothes and use any number of names to go with it. It is also useful when you are, say, in a safe location and want to wear your disguise clothes attached to your true character name to let people know who you are.Saving an outfit (using the command -saveoutfit) will record the current appearance of your armor/clothing, cloak, helmet, weapon and shield. Loading will replace the current look of the gear you have equipped at the moment with the saved configuration.
The saved outfit will be stored virtually, and it doesn't matter if you drop or change the appearance of the gear that you used originally. It will even work with different items as long as they belong to the same category (a heavy armor will be replaced with the saved configuration of any other heavy armor, but it will never take the appearance of a chainmail armor or clothing, and a longbow will not be replaced with the appearance of a shortbow).
This is a particularly useful tool for characters who specialize in the use of -disguise.
You can have up to 5 different saved configurations.
Loadoutfit also loads the PC description saved with the outfit.

Re: -loadoutfit no longer loading description
I just tried this and it works fine for me.
Are you saving the description with the exact same name as the outfit? They need to be the same name for it to work, afaik.

Re: -loadoutfit no longer loading description
I will test this later. Before you could manually change the description but you did not have to save the description as a description. It was automatically bonded to the outfit.Rigela wrote: Tue Nov 19, 2019 6:37 pm I just tried this and it works fine for me.

However, if you can save a description to match the outfit name and it loads properly, then that would resolve this problem.
*Edit*
I tested this just now it is still not working. Steps to repeat:
1.) Set a description using "-description This is what I want"
2.) Save that description using "-savedesc Test"
2.) Save an outfit using the console command "-saveoutfit Test"
3.) Change your description using the "-description This should not be here."
This is where it all matters:
4.) Use the command "-loadoutfit Test" --> your description should read "This is what I want". It actually reads "This should not be here"
Alternatively, this still works:
5.) Use the command "-disguise Test" --> Your description will read "This is what I want"

Re: -loadoutfit no longer loading description
I just tested the description problem you are having.
I created a new description: "A vaguely ethereal woman." I saved that description as "Jane" -savedesc Jane
I reloaded my default description.
Then I disguised myself as Jane: -disguise Jane
The correct description loaded.
I removed my disguise. And the correct default description loaded.
So, the mechanics are working correctly. I'm going to guess that you are doing something wrong.
Your description is in no way tied to the outfit name. The description is only tied to the name you give the description.
If you use -disguise and the disguise name is the same as a description name, that description WILL load when you use the matching disguise name.

Okay, So for the record I will repeat again. I am not crazy. The outfit tags used to be tied to descriptions. They are not anymore. To repeat myself, this is taken straight from the Wiki:
I went ahead and added extra emphasis here. I KNOW that the disguise tag works. I have tested it an am using it. However, there are times when a Disguised character wants to leave disguise and return to his regular character floating name without necessarily changing his clothes. Or when you want to use two different descriptions for two different outfits without using disguise. It is pretty simple. I change my clothes regularly without changing my name --> description describes my appearance and clothes --> that should change automatically.Saving an outfit (using the command -saveoutfit) will record the current appearance of your armor/clothing, cloak, helmet, weapon and shield. Loading will replace the current look of the gear you have equipped at the moment with the saved configuration.

Re: -loadoutfit no longer loading description
I'm running on nine hours of sleep over the past five days, so forgive my original response this morning not covering the correct problem.
I've NEVER seen what you are describing to work. I recall attempting to use it before and having no luck. I gave up on it and forgot that the feature existed.
I just tried to create three new outfits and corresponding descriptions. I am encountering the same problem the OP is reporting, so something does appear to be broken.

As for it being a serious bug, it's an inconvenience. It wasn't too long ago that we couldn't save descriptions at all and we had to copy/paste descriptions in every time we changed outfits and disguises.
