Thread of Disappearance

Well, two years of Arelith have been a treat mostly. Didn’t think I’d stick around this long at first, and a few months ago I didn’t think I’d be leaving at all, guess I was wrong both times. Arelith has an amazing player base for the most part. It is vibrant, creative, inventive, hard working, and rather diverse in the kinds of stories they want to tell. We don’t always get along, in fact a lot of that time that is the case, but even now I have faith the player base will be alright in the long term.

What’s changed since a few months ago? I’m just not having fun anymore. The server’s culture and vision is going places I can’t follow. To be clear, this is not a dig at mechanical changes or UMD nerfs or anything like that. I think Irongron is doing a fine job actually and doesn’t get enough praise for the things he does. I am just seeing a direction people are taking things and cannot see myself having fun in that environment, so I’ll move on to hobbies and servers that are more in line with my taste.

I doubt I will be back. Perhaps I’m as wrong now as I was a few months or two years ago or perhaps not. Either way don’t wait up and have fun without me.

I would suggest to reconsider.

The server hasn't changed, and forum conversations usually are far removed from the state of the actual world itself to the point where they might be a separate realm of their own. A good idea would be to focus on the world rather than the forums.

Still, it is your life and your decisions. Have fun and good luck with your future endeavors.

I'm sure everyone's noticed, but In'iira and Lily-Rose are going to be a bit sporadic until further notice. I'm tired. I'm stressed with RL. I am "an essential worker" so it's basically a matter of time until I not only get sick but cause the people I love most to get sick - namely my husband and daughter.

If the worst happens, I want this time to be something they, or I, will remember. I want to focus what energy my anxiety and work leave me with on them.

I'll be on Discord, and I'll pop in. When this is all over I hope to pick back up. All of you - stay safe. STAY HOME. Please.

This isn't exactly disappearance, but I am further cutting back on my game time due to a personal commitment to seek out better things in life and focus on my novels.

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I will not be available on game, forums, or discord. And I will try my hardest not to respond to anything in those. The rest of the time, it will basically be like normal, though I will likely be less responsive overall.
