Create arrow not creating arrows

When I try to create arrows as a archer ranger I select create ammunition. Then I get a message showing "creates projectiles" and then a message appears showing "uses item special powers" but it never actually creates any arrows.

You need to equip your bow, crossbow, throwing axe, or sling,... then you use the create ammunition ability.

It will create a "bundle"

You can "use" that bundle to create 5 stacks of 100 arrows.

If you have an assembly template, you can "use" the bundle targeting the assembly template to further enchant your arrows.

Currently you need to have the correct Weapon Focus feat AND the relevant weapon in your hand.
The Feat is a bug that will get removed eventually, but the weapon is not. The game needs some way to know what type of ammunition you want to make, you tell it by holding your bow/crossbow/throwing axes.

If you don't have anything equipped the game doesn't know what ammo to provide so it gives nothing.

The feat requirement was a thing long before having the weapon in your hand. It’s always what governed what ammo you made - now that specific weapon reward are groups, it’s dependent on what’s also in your hand.

It’s not a bug that will be later removed. It’s the intended behaviour of the feat.

If the game says 'creating projectiles' and it's not creating projectiles, then that's a bug that's giving players false feedback.
The proper message should be something like 'no ranged weapon equipped, no projectiles created. equip the ranged weapon you want to create projectiles for'

I am the one who worked on fixing this - this is not the case.

Before the game would decide if you had Weapon Focus Longbow then create your arrows. Now that it’s grouped into missile, etc, you need the appropriate group feat and have the weapon in hand - the weapon in hand determines which ammo is to be produced.

Once again. Not a bug. The intended design of the feat.

So the message 'Character X creates projectiles' that shows up in the log is actually a function that shows the feat is being activated. I doubt that can be changed.

But at the very least, the ingame feat description should be updated to reflect that weapon focus should be in Missile now, not in a specific weapon.
The ingame feat description does include that you need to have the weapon in hand, though it appears that still gets easily overlooked.

I think it would not be hard to include a message letting the player know if they have no weapon equiped or don't have weapon focus: missile? I assume it's programmed as either a switch case or simple if-statements to choose the right ammo type and quality.

Or a simple line on the wiki where it describes the create ammunition ability, it makes sense hearing the reason is that it needs to know what type of ammunition to create. The main frustration was that when I started to look for reasons why it wasn't working, I couldn't find anything.

So... not being able to create arrows as an AA is the intended behaviour? Because you just can't bow in hand or no bow in hand.

Unless if you have Ranger levels. Then you can.

My AA is a woodelf, with weapon focus longbow, like all elves. No arrows can be crafted
Wait. So she not only needs weapon focus longbow, she also needs weapon focus missile? ..what?

There shouldn’t be Weapon Focus: Longbow. That would be a bug with the race - seeing as specific weapon focuses are not a thing.

Let me know your character name and I’ll edit it tomorrow to replace the feat with the proper one.

Looking at your feats, this doesn't seem to be an issue. I see you have Weapon Focus: Missile already. Was this feat taken on a level up to compensate for the Weapon Focus Longbow (which I don't see on your feat list). Let me know so I can help out.
