Pickaxe Mining bonus non-functioning

Pickaxe sold in the UD Tinkerer store (I think? Thats where I found one) - does not function.

The description is also misleading indicating that it works on Gemstones and ore, where there is a seperate item for gemstones.

My thought would be either the item passing through a merchant breaks it somehow, or this is an old item which should no longer be in circulation.

Seems this was a alternative pickaxe simply called "Pickaxe" rather than "mining pickaxe" - if I find another copy I'll let you know where it spawns.
