This post is not a criticism of current firbolg players, this is a critique of the decision to move it to greater.

Cordor has been invaded by firbolgs. They're everywhere. You turn the corner and there are 2 firbolgs. You sprint into the nomad and there's a few more firbolgs grabbing a drink. You sprint from the city and there they are - firbolgs grinding the brambles.

They're everywhere. It is significantly more noticeable than the RDD change as these characters are 2x any other character's size. In my opinion, the move from major to greater has done a disservice to Firbolgs. They are no longer unique, they are now just bigger humans.

I am humbly asking for a reassessment this change. Thank you for your time.

I agree. I know that people love their special, fancy races but it feels silly to me.

I don't know if moving it back to major will do anything at this point. What it tells me is that people were sitting on greaters and didn't like any of the options available to them. Then firbolg was moved down, and everyone made firbolgs all at once. Everyone who wants a firbolg probably already made one. And if no, they're probably going to make one today after reading this post out of fear they'll miss the "window of opportunity."

Agreed with OP. At least aasiamars arnt in your face. Now if we could direct all the non lawful firbolgs live in a community together somewhere (this sounds so bad and partially a joke) they wouldn't be as immersion breaking. Kind of like how dwarves mostly congregate at Brog but still pop up other places. Like if the firbolgs on their own settled in community locations where they dont constantly bump their heads to enter the doorway.

That being said, I also agree with the 2nd* replier. This was more of people sitting on greaters. If we quickly move firbolg back to major, then people will sit on their firbolgs too instead of rolling them down the road.

There have been complaints in the past about not enough things for surfacers to spend awards on. This is probably a byproduct of that.

EDIT: Here's the awards list. Prior to the change, were the only things available for greaters yuan-ti (monster), deep Imaskari (underdark start), or a racial genasi? That's probably why people were sitting on greaters.

Adding more rewards that give boons to standard races would help with the “special races aren’t rare” problem. You can’t expect players to do anything but make a special race character when they have an award and that’s the only option.

I had been watching the Firbolg population since the time it was changed. Garrbear and I said we'd watch it for a bit longer, but we saw the numbers spike even more. Even though people deleted, they weren't being played properly in a lot of cases and were just giant humans.

There isn't a whole lot of stuff to spend mid tier awards on, so people who were hoarding greaters jumped at the opportunity.
