Unarmed damage varying by size

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:

  • implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
  • the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
  • the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to fix everything.

Unarmed damage varying by size

Post by Rei_Jin »

At the moment, every race unarmed does the same 1d3+strength mod damage without feats or class investment.

Regardless of size.

Meaning a halfling and a half-giant can hit you just as hard as one another.

Suggestion 1: make unarmed damage vary by size.
1 for tiny (Imp, fey)
1d2 for small (halfling, gnome, etc)
1d3 for medium
1d4 for large

Suggestion 2: give large monks a damage dice increase to represent their larger fists. The D&D 3.5 SRD entry for monks shows their damage dice shifting dramatically

Tiny monks should also receive a damage dice decrease, not that I think ANYONE would ever use such.

Unsure if possible for our engine limitations.
This too shall pass.

(I now have a DM Discord (I hope) It's DM GrumpyCat#7185 but please keep in mind I'm very busy IRL so I can't promise how quick I'll get back to you.)
