Missing Merchant NPCs

Post by Kessarin »

Description of Bug Experienced:

Several merchant NPCs seem to have vanished. These are merchants that should be present 24/7.
Noted merchants missing:

Brodman the Butcher in Guldorand
The Candy Seller Gnome in Dis
The Novelties Seller in Dis (in same area as Candy Seller Gnome)
The Rakshasa in Dis

Steps to reproduce the Bug:

Visit the place where the NPC merchant is found.

Expected Result:

Find the NPC merchant.

Actual Result:

No merchant NPC there.

Additional Information/Notes

  • I had someone else check to make sure this wasn't just something on my end. The merchants did not show for this person, either.

  • The Perfumer in Dis is present but his store won't open. There is a dialogue about him being out of stock / needing time to restock.

Many of the NPCs in Dis, including the ones mentioned by you, are not in the city every day. You'll need to check after a server reset to see who's around. Brodman is a different case, but there are many reasons why a NPC wouldn't be on the same spot they are every day, ranging from being controlled by a DM to simply being killed and vanishing until the next reset.

These are commonly called 'rotating merchants', and, alongside many of the other NPCs found throughout Dis, aren't always there. They spawn on server reset, or don't, at random. Check back regularly to see who's about and available. The perfumer is similar in that he hasn't always got wares.

This system exists elsewhere but is primarily used in Dis at present.

Brodman the Butcher had somehow found his way behind a temp shop nearby, likely his AI bugged out and he can't pathfind his way back to his shop after killing something a player had led up from the sewer or crypt.
