I had them turned off for the majority of the trial. I did not notice any negative impact to my experience. I wasn't pressured about them once and did not feel like I was being skipped over in roleplay.

I see no issue in having them available to people, as long as my opt-out remains available.

Please can we have them back? Im unsure what issues there are with quackers, but I didn't experience any bad. Now, while I'm playing it feels like something is missing without them.

I feel the same, I liked quackers during the trial and I was ok with them. But now that they are gone I truly see how good they were and how they made interactions so much better! I feel lost without them now.

I was so confused yesterday when quackers disappeared. They definitely helped the conversation flow, helped not to talk over each other and keep the conversation a ping pong instead of a mess. Yesterday I did not know how to handle the goodbyes! The quack made it clear if we were done, it made it clear when the conversation was over or if someone had something else to say. Now its back to confusion. They were also great when you walk by someone you could notice if they had interest of talking to you, so you could stop a moment if needed and not just have to run back.

TL;DR: Bring quackers back! I didn't know how much I liked them until they were gone!

After the Trial, I must say I miss them. They helped far more with what feels like awkward pauses during RP where people are just typing.

I dont care if its opt in or opt out, I will use these if they are brought back. It greatly improved things for me and I believe these are good for the server to have as an option. I had zero issue with people choosing to use them or not, and adapted to interacting with both just fine. It will be very disappointing if they do not return, because I really believe its a positive change for the server and it feels weird to not have them now.

I loved the system. Did not disable it even once for myself, even when the indicators were showing up during whispers, as i believed it will let others know that there is some quiet conversation going on without the need to switch back to normal speech and adding some Hushed conversation or Whispers whispers in the middle of it.
Knowing that the other person is just taking their time typing, and not having to wonder whether they just went afk for a moment is a very nice qol perk.

Overall, now that it's disabled, i already miss it a lot, as i got so very used to it during this short time we had it, and i hope it is only temporarily disabled.

Yes, i saw there are some concerns from other players about the possibility to abuse the system, but let's be honest... Will the times it gets abused overweigh the comfort we can get from having it? For me: i don't think so. And in those cases where the system gets abused, we can surely figure how to deal with it.

I was always pro-quacker, but I felt their absence a lot more than expected. I hope they return.

Quackers are great overall, and I want them back desperately, but during the trial I often ran into situations where I quacked when I didn't want to, giving a false impression that I was preparing a message for the conversation. I'd love a few features to lower the incidence of this:

  • No quacking when your text box is highlighted but still empty

This just keeps you from accidentally quacking with an empty box. This should be the default behavior IMO

  • Optional no quacking when the first character in your text box is a dash

This option would prevent you from quacking when you're using console commands

  • Optional no quacking when the first character in your text box is a slash

This option would prevent you from quacking when you're communicating to someone using /tells or /whispers, while also allowing you to selectively hide quacks during normal conversation with /tk

It was a great tool to have!

Having returned from a long absence on Arelith to find these quackers was great.

In the past I've been jumped in PVP more times than I can count when trying to speak with the aggressors and produce some roleplay or simply trying to save my hide and produce another result. Id like to think if they saw the quackers they may pause and converse and maybe even emote they are going in for the kill if they intend to stop the conversation short if they feel its going on too long after a few exchanges. However anything is better than simply being cut down mid typing.

Leveling up a new character yesterday it was great to bump into someone in the dungeon I was in and see them stop and engage with the quackers above there head and taking the time to wait for my slow response as they see my own. Made me feel more relaxed about my typing and I made less mistakes.

Normally in the past without an indicator i tend to post 4 or 5 times before someone else because I don't know if there still listening, distracted or just afk for a moment, plus my mind races at a million miles per hour. Will i stop multiposting in conversation, probabaly not, but will it be less than before and easier for me - YES.

10/10 -bring the quack back.

Personally I love the Typing Indicator, and being able to toggle them is great for people don't like them or for those who find them distracting. I see no down side to keeping them in the game personally

Hated the whole idea when I saw it in the announcements.

Thought it looked dumb the first time I logged in and saw dots over people's heads. I ignored them, laughed at people, found them annoying, etc...

Then I RP'd...

Wow! What a difference! Love 'em. Bring them back ASAP! I need my quackers!

BRING BACK THE QUACK! BRING BACK THE QUACK! BRING BACK THE QUACK! BRING BACK THE QUACK! BRING BACK THE QUACK! BRING BACK THE QUACK! BRING BACK THE QUACK! BRING BACK THE QUACK! BRING BACK THE QUACK! BRING BACK THE QUACK!

Just don't bring back the popup message about them...

I have to echo the sentiment about social anxiety.
Wherever possible I keep the writing indicators off. And if I can't I write my messages on a different platform and copy paste it from there.

The most horrifying event imaginable is someone coming online on WhatsApp while I'm writing te hem a message lol

I imagine I'd feel the same way in Arelith even though I didn't have much time to play during he trial. So I hope if it becomes a thing it will remain optional.

Found it very usefull , perhaps a smaller visual perhaps would indeed be better.

if you dont want people to see your quaker, or you dont want to see them you can simply turn this off right? So i see no problems with this tool in my mind

---> perhaps once of those helpfull nui screen things to adjust the quakers better would be handy

One of the things I wish quackers did have was a delay of about 3-5 seconds after you start typing. A lot of times I might begin to type and erase and type and erase and that looks weird.

Love em tho.

I dont miss them at all, and I feel like I can type more freely without someone taking any indications, and then I can decide whether or not to actually post without there being any expectation on the other end. I understand that most players are very patient and will not make a big deal out of this, but it makes a world of a difference to me. I dont need or want them to be patient, I want them to also type whatever whenever, freely.

If quackers come back, I will still opt in, simply because opting out of something like this just doesnt seem like a REAL option to me, when it exists in the game. It has already become far too mandatory for a real opt out.

I understand that I represent a minority, at least in this thread, but I will risk sounding very condescending and say that I simply dont think this is healthy for RP dynamics, to all players, whether they think they like them or not.

/quackstyle did get the option to set delay somewhere in the early middle of trial.

Very pro quackers, I think they worked really well as an opt in/opt out system. I RPed with both those opted in and those opted out. With opted in people I found them helpful to the flow. With opted out people, it was the same as rping before they existed.

Hope they come back soon as I really enjoyed the system.

I enjoyed the quackers during the trial because it made conversations less awkward for me and I didn't have to guess if someone was present or away; it'd be great if it remained optional with being able to opt in and out to account for those who don't want to use them.

I'll be brief.

I loved it, it was in fact a suggestion I thought about but never told anyone, so it was like a xmas gift. I experienced no negative sides (Apart from them appearing when sending tells, which was quickly fixed, and was not an issue at all), and found it really useful, specially with slow typing people.

I wanted to say that silence gives me anxiety. I want to fill silence. I don't know what to do with silence. And it makes things awkward, because I am not giving other players time to cook if I speak too much. The indicator is very, very helpful to me. It makes it way easier for me to understand when to talk and when not to talk. It's disappointing to me that so many people aren't even going to give it a try, because I can't stress enough how helpful it is for me as a player to follow the flow of conversation. It's like an accessibility feature for people who are bad at conversations.

I so agree with this! I am awkward at my best and talk over people when I think they are not talking, so the quackers are a god send!

I like that they are opt in/opt out. No one should be pressured to use them or not use them. I myself find it better in conversation so I can relaz and let the other person "talk" instead of getting overly anxious about the silenece and continuing to talk (Just ask anyone who has ever tried to rp with me)

I loved the quacker/indicator, it made conversation way smoother as you can wait for slower typers without guessing if their responding or not.
