skills and shields?

Post by Tikin »

Hi!

I dweomered an “enchanted shield” (size large) on PGCC with +2 seight of hand, to use on a gnome char, this bonus to the skill wasn’t added to the total in the char sheet when wielding the shield.
I should add that I checked to make sure that when holding a weapon enchanted with +2 sleight of hand in off hand, the bonus to skill was taken in account in char sheet.
This made me want to check what would happened with a small shield enchanted with +2 … It happened that only half (+1) was taken in account in the skill part of the char sheet.

Any one knows if there is a reason I have no knowledge of to explain this?
Thanks in advance!

All Large Shields have -2 Armor Check Penalty. So by putting +2 Sleight of Hand, you ended up offsetting the penalty you get. Small Shield has -1 Armor Check Penalty, hence why you got +1 in the end. Want to pickpocket - avoid having shield at that moment. Can always equip it after for combat.

Currently playing: Vinur Reiziger (sorta shelved, sorta not), Samwell Twolife

OK, thanks, had no idea! :D

Does this penalty concern all skills or specific ones?

It should apply to Hide, Move Silently, Parry, Pick Pocket, Set Trap, and Tumble.

Arelith has Use Trap for Set Trap. I'm not sure off the top of my head if it still applies. I would hazard a guess that it does.
