Can we get statistics on rolling?

Post by Party in the forest at midnight »

With the cooldown refreshed, can we get stats on how many characters were rolled within 24 hours of the announcement? I'm curious how many people engage in roll grinding and have roll grind characters ready to go at all times.

Award cooldowns are so long that I’ll usually have a character ready to go as soon as the cooldown is done. Normal awards are a 2 month cooldown, which is the minimum if you roll at 26+, which is what people do.

I think the cooldown isn’t achieving the goal it was supposed to, and the award system only really achieves randomness.

RP only starts at 30 if you're a coward.

I don't roll anymore. It's not worth it as I never ever received anything more than a normal. :D

I rolled that day, got a greater, used it on a guld start. I really wish I could either break up bigger awards for smaller ones or stack them up to save for a a bigger one, because most of the list is pointless to me. Alternatively, you could eliminate majors and make all the greater down rewards stay as is and make the majors app only. Then you don't need a timer, no one is grinding out greater awards lol.

I also rolled that day too. I get the implication is that we have a bunch of character all saved up that are just used as rolling fodder, but that couldn't be further from the truth. I research and make google docs for each one for ideas for the character, personalities, goals, etc.

Sometimes the character doesn't work out either you don't like the RP or the build and want to just move on. I'm not sure I'm that unique on that.

Anyone can get to 26+ in <3 weeks just by doing writs every day.

The cooldown is doing its job, yes. The job is to limit people rolling too much. This setup means people aren't rolling more than 6 character a year (which still feels like a lot to me). I've done 18 rolls of 26+, which worked out to 3 Greaters and 1 Major.

Katernin Bersk, Chancellor of Divination; Kerri Amblecrown, Paladin of Milil; Xull'kacha Auvry'rae, Redcap Fey-pacted; Sadia yr Thuravya el Bhirax, Priestess of Umberlee; Lissa Whitehorn, Archmage of Artifice

I can only offer anecdotal evidence here but I know of at least 4 others who had characters ready to roll, and myself (after a few days of finishing leveling).

It's pretty easy to build up a roster if you like to explore a lot of different concepts.

yeah, absolutely this. i rolled a character that i rped quite heavily on over the span of about 2 months, one that took an amount of pre-emptive setting researching. over time i lost interest / the characters group/friends left. i have several other level 30 characters that i spent painstaking hours reading for, and i could roll right again if the CD was reset once more.

'roll-grind' characters should be a term reserved for 0 rp characters. some people just explore concepts more often, as opposed to the ones whom prefer playing a char for healthy chunks of irl lifespans.

The cooldown refresh didn't do anything for me. I've rolled 5 characters in 5 years at 26+ (several having 1 million gold) and got 1 Greater, the rest Normal.
