Dragons and Worse
So, I just want to throw it out there that I think this event was perfect. That it drew so many enemies together, that it was so topical, that so many people showed up, and that it will continue to be a source of rp for months to come. I'll not name names for fear of leaving someone out, but you were all very cool.

Re: Dragons and Worse
Seriously, thank you, to all who showed up and who helped with the preperations.
From the Banites and their Ballistas to Zeth/Goar giving up fire resist essences to coat the building.
For the Grove babysitting the fields, Brogendenstein/Tower accepting our evacuees.
All the ship captains who would have brought their vessels out in force but, hey, plans changed.
Cordor for providing repairs up until the event. The council voting for support, oh my, glorious.
To all the random sons of guns who showed up in force well before me (pipe + burst = occupied).
Madison Rook and "Jordaine" for their massive push near the event's go ahead to rally and prep.
Huge thanks to all my Waymen who I worked a bit to the bone these past five days.
And the suppliers, sheesh, pumping out all manner of items of which 50% went poof for rp.
But the biggest thank you to everyone, everyone involved.
Ps. Oh I didn't forget about you GrumpyCat you glorious fatherless son.
For, somehow, watching all the people noted above and giving them your attention in full.
Congratulations all!
We didn't burn a settlement into the ground, whoo.

Re: Dragons and Worse
I'll blame Zeth for making essences that worked - Goar might or might not have wanted things to burn down.
But aye, kudos to all involved - and those who came late (even those who came after, for their participation before it happened).
Perhaps next time, we'll have an isle on fire!

I hate that I had work during the event! I hear it was fun and all! Kudos to everyone who was able to make it!

Awesome fun and it allowed all levels to run around fighting dragons without getting slaughtered. Kudos to all involved, especially masterful DMing as outlined above, well played DM Grumpycat.

Re: Dragons and Worse
Aww, drat. I couldn't have chosen a worse time to go on holiday. I am really gutted that I missed the conclusion. Sorry Grumpy.
But, I had a lot of fun for the parts I played in, just so terribly gutted I missed the last stand.

I had so much fun pretending to be part of a Ballista *cough*
Thank you very much for letting me get stuck in with you all, and thanks to DM GrumpyCat! It must have been a bit of a nightmare taking care of all of us at once. (And props to Madison for handling the children

Re: Dragons and Worse
While I didn't get to participate in most of this event due to time zone issues and RL scheduling, I enjoyed the parts I was able to get to. Grumpycat is probably one of my favorite new(er) DMs. He has a good head on his shoulders about implementing smaller events to lead up to bigger issues, letting numerous people participate without swamping the floor with all of them at once.
He also has a good eye on Issues to focus on and all of his events to date (with or without other DMs as part of it) have had a distinct server changing punch on how characters view certain events or even people. I think that is the mark of not only a good DM, but a great one.
Not all DMs have a hand at this sort of thing without it breaking the fourth wall a little, but his events I have seen and been part of to date, have a distinct organic feel of 'This is actually something that would happen within Arelith'. So thanks for putting up with all of us, Grumpycat. You truly are an asset to the server just as much as our Dev team is.

Out of all the days to get very sick : ( I hope everyone else had fun and that the ballistas worked. Super kudos to the DM for making a very serious situation that prompted a surprisingly serious response from everyone.

Re: Dragons and Worse
I'm very glad you all enjoyed the event. It was a blast (if rathe stressful) to run. The roleplay I saw during it was in places utterly phenominal and it was really nice to see people get together, come up with ideas, and try things out! I love supporthing that sort of thing as and when I can, so never feel afraid to hit me up with any ideas you have during a quest. But be awear, especialy during quests, that we tend to be busy running multiple things, so it can be hard to keep track of, and fulfil, everyone's requests/questions.
A shout out of thanks needs to go to Innis who helped run a part of this quest (featuring looters! XD) Himself! I didnt' get to see much of it but it looked really cool, and brought the story down to scale too, which is nice.
Thanks again to all the players who were patient with me and my schedual. I'm really, really glad you all enjoyed the event. It means the world.

Re: Dragons and Worse
What a rollercoaster of conflict. Lots of great rp all around, even so early on a morning that I struggled with sleep deprivation to come to.
Way to go Grumpycat, my stalker, for managing most of that by yourself!
I won't lie to say it was a struggle for my rp, being such a punchingbag/trophy with the rp.
Thanks for everyone who protected/spat at Estar, it will help shape her as she grows from a young thing into a mature female.

Re: Dragons and Worse
I got a late start on this due to scheduling misunderstandings as well, but I did get back in time for everyone to gather up in town and take up defensive positions while another group headed for the island.
The cooperation that occurred despite the friction between various factions was amazing. I died, once, but it was a result of underestimating the range of a breath weapon... twice.
I found the event to be very immersive. It provided a lot of opportunity for characters that wouldn't normally interact to do so, and that's awesome.
Grumpy kept things interesting all around, and I was very thankful he somehow managed to run such an awesome event and answer my crazy ideas with encouraging feedback rather than exasperation.
10/10, would play again. Preferably next time with way more sleep and work not happening 45 minutes after I log out. >.>

Tried pretty hard to keep you from dying lol, you've survived so long with that MoD.Aelryn Bloodmoon wrote:I got a late start on this due to scheduling misunderstandings as well, but I did get back in time for everyone to gather up in town and take up defensive positions while another group headed for the island.

The sentiment is appreciated, although for the sake of you and others not taking unnecessary risks in the future, I remade Ast around the beginning of this year without the MoD- around when I realized he was no longer the throwaway trial-run character with no attachments like I had expected him to be.BillNye wrote:Tried pretty hard to keep you from dying lol, you've survived so long with that MoD.
