Kudos to the Guard

Post by METAL BAWKSES »

Always fun RPing with the members of the Cordor Guard! Even if it means just a little bit more work for "Kathirin" getting around the city. Had a fun time going back and forth with Laura, a nice sit down with Storm and a nice send off from the city. Great to have fun adversaries in Team Good, or at least Team Lawful.

+1 to that.

Even though my character dislikes the guards, and either bad mouths them, harangues them, or attempts to manipulate them (poorly). They are a great team, and I always enjoy RP'ing with them, hopefully my annoying character isn't actually annoying to the players behind the guard characters *grin*.

Generally, I second this. People in the Guard are nice folk! And I had a great time from the moment I joined the Guard until now.

While we certainly enjoy having the casual 'badies' around (it gives the guard a meaning), there's moments when things aren't very easy!

I had happenings, that were less enjoyable for everyone involved (sometimes including PvP and/or OOC talk afterwards).
When this happens, it mostly isn't comfortable, feelings get hurt, and it leaves a bad taste. While I don't consider myself and my actions beyond any doubt, I'll take the chance and say sorry to anyone who felt themselves treated wrongly and it's never (from my side) against you as a player, but my character's reactions!
Might I respectfully suggest playing the game, rather than indulging in speculation about how we might screw the game up in future? - Mithreas, 2014

If it weren't for characters that confront the guard or otherwise provide work for the guard, it would have been boring to play a guard.

That's good to know, my character will continue being minor thorn in the guards sides. I say that as if my character were capable of being anything but a thorn in the sides of those in authority.

If we were playing 5th Edition I would be getting RP points (or whatever they are called) for playing to my characters flaws on an hourly basis. Point of fact, I think thats the most ludicrous new rule in 5th edition. Role Play is a bonus unto itself.

I am not opposed to the RPR bonus, that is great stuff.

However, this new rule in 5th edition (it's called Inspiration not RP Points apparently), is patently absurd. Why would you get another role, or whatever, because you played your character correctly.

Yep, basically, just because you played to one of your characters flaws.. which incidentally are pre-generated on the characters (or I am guessing rolled for when you make your own character).

Completely absurd, I believe I am not alone when I say that I RP flaws in my character because that is enjoyable and enriching to the RP experience. Not because I am going to get some arbitrary bonus from it.
