Farewells from Balthur

Post by Winter83 »

His story is closed, Balthur's gone. His rat without the ranger might be stalking your grainstores, hide the loaves of bread!

I had a lot of fun, and special thanks go to these PCs and groups:

...to the waymen and Wharftownians for comeraderie, jokes, stories oh' epic stories
Amana
Bilbert
Croft Stafford
Helene D'
Morkhav Wolfgeist
Kaxandra Gegner
Robert
Stath Stoutheart
Thaddeus Waldgrave

...to knights and dames fighting the dark:
Adelbrandt
Gideon Croix
Kalyah Serafine

...to the dwarves for companionship, ales, tales, and patrols:
Tathkar Eisgrim
Gar Greybeard
Tavar Trollhammer

...to rangers, hunters, druids and scoundrels of the wylds, for sharing pipeweed:
Asherrin Lafara
Kregor Boldheart
Syrian

...to DMs for the quests and aid
DM Ironfist
DM Titania

Balthur encountered a great many PCs despite his constant streaks rangering alone in the wilderness.
I cannot even count everyone I had good times with. Wish I could play more with most of you.
Thanks for the short encounters, longer ones.
Special Kudos to every villain who gave reason for the dwarf to be grumpy about.

:(

Balthur will be missed, no doubt.
If I made anytime a ranger, I will look to lure Gilly as comrade.

The only think I dislike is to see as many comrades leaving Arelith, then you really miss all that RP that you could had done with them but you didn't! (Never enough, and as I am a loner with all the stuff about the map exploration, I will miss him triple!)

Has been a pleasure to meet Balthur (Friend, comrade and Commander!).
Looking for your next characters, that will be undoubtfuly managed with your excellance as player!

Yeah, Gilly of Cordor is out there somewhere ready to be found and tamed. Up for snatch. :D

Balthur was straight up possibly the best Dwarf concept i've seen and personaly enjoyed for a while. I mean, the dwarves are epic don't get me wrong, but crossbow ranger with a rat really did it for me.

Utterly fantastic, brilliant character and i bow to your ability to liven up the world.

But, no...!

You can't ditch him! :O

At any rate, you did an amazing job with Balthur, he really painted a picture of a dwarf! :-)

PS: If you feel like starting up something evil, hit me up :-) (I'm in the mood for evilism these days ;-) )

Don't get the impression he was ditched...
I only got to roleplay with Balthur very briefly, for a couple of adventures at the start of Azuilah's career, but he did leave a lingering mark. I too miss Gilly's owner! (and Gilly was adorable)
Always looking out for more evils...

Balthur is by far one of the most -genuine- characters I've ever seen on Arelith.

Having you around was an absolute blast, and having the honour to change the end of your story was awesome.

Thank you so much. :)

By coincidence, I had the great pleasure of being part of Balthur's ending in Sibayad. A heroic ending, I have to say that. I think only a few chars are privileged to get that exit! It was fun, because nothing of all this was planned, it just happened ...

And along the road, I had a lot of fun with Balthur, from when Kax met him in Wharfie and he invited her into his little camp at the shipyard. They didn't really get ~that good along in the beginning, was rather "business-like". But woot, over time, they most certainly did, and we shared many memorable moments.

Balthur will be missed, I am sure your next char will be as fun ... just take your time.

I saw Balthur and Gideion's last drink together.

If I had a soul and could cry, I so would.

I'm missing Balthur already. A great consistent character who was a pleasure to have around.

His farewells were probably one of the most heartbreaking I've seen in Arelith and now bittersweet, as the story got such an end. Kudos!

I'm deeply gladdened I got to see as much of the character as I did, and a little sad I killed him a few times. A good character, a good story, and a good teller. Pretty this thread should be you getting the Kudos, not giving them.

On the brighter side, looking forward to your next incarnation!

Dang... ol' grumpy 'dorf of the waymen gone. Was nigh in hopes of taunting you wharf 'men a bit more, with a nice refreshingly disgruntled ranger there to mumble about constantly overconfident monologuing!

All the same. Was great that I did get to interract the few times I had. I didn't see much, but I'd seen enough. Pipeweed 'n ale to ol' balth in nature's final embrace, eh?

Every time my elf gets a rapport with a dwarf... the dorf dies...
Sad, but atleast your story is now done. I was hoping to see more of the dwarf... too bad he's gone now.

Looking forward to your next character. :-)

No... Nononono.

I neither got to see Balthur's end, nor wished to see it. He was not only an awesome dwarf, but an awesome ranger as well.

Kudos for you, for not only the character portrayal, but the efforts you made to keep our faction in the loop for happenings in Wharftown. The Bramble is going to miss their emissary in Wharftown. A lot. :(

I was going to write a thread for him after he died, but he beat me to it!

It has been Bilbert's pleasure to accompany Lord Balthur on his many trips. ICly and OOCly he will be missed. Fun times, good times... Happy times!
And it is truly a pity that Balthur... will never know the truth about Bilbert...

Looking forward to more rp with you in another guise!!!

Not sure if I was more upset about Balthur going out or losing the chance to get that sweet hand axe from him ... :( Either way, both are gone. Much sadness.

If you mean the Artifact axe, you should not weep. He's never kept it for himself.

It is a shame to see you go, Balthur.
Just as I returned.
I am going to miss the grumpy dwarf. But do not fret, Someone is going to take care of your rat. Unless it died as well.
