Agreed.

It's a qualitative system, making it inherently unknowable in its entirety. To be entirely known, it would have to be a quantitative judgement system, which, if known, would simply become a checklist for grinders to fill out.

Even then, there is criteria in these phrases.

30: Shows exceptional aptitude to bring out the good RPer in those around them, is part of the living, breathing world and environment of Arelith.

40 Rating : A master role player is one who is willing and able to bend their character concept to make the game more enjoyable for all involved. To assist the DM in making the game fun, and not to show discord.

Now what constitutes this is not set up in a checklist fashion, and that's a good thing. It's more than having a memorable character on both fronts, but good attitude and bringing about good RP not just from yourself, but from those around you (I.E., not just inclusiveness, but making something beautiful out of that).

Cant help reading that and see it as

10 - Newbie!
20 - Graduated from Newbie academy
30 - Great at looking cool and drawing DM attention to themselves in doing so
40 - DM BESTIES!!

Guys you're missing the point here, the point isn't to talk about the process, because the process is unknown.

The problem is the RPR result that has come FROM that process.

Don't miss the forest for the trees, here.

I have no desire to discuss the inner-workings of the DM vote council, in this topic. It's not relevant, and was simply used to, again, illustrate the cracks in the RPR foundation.

This has to be the most hardcore RPR derail in recent years.

Amazing.

0 Bonus: Does not stay in character, rushes around from spawn to spawn killing things with little to no interaction.
10 Bonus: Stays in character sometimes, OR is new to the server and still to be evaluated - this is the starting RPR for all players.
20 Bonus: Stays in character at all times, creates a memorable personality, and is fun to play with.
30 Bonus: Shows exceptional aptitude to bring out the good RPer in those around them, is part of the living, breathing world and environment of Arelith.
40 Bonus : "A master role player is one who is willing and able to bend their character concept to make the game more enjoyable for all involved. To assist the DM in making the game fun, and not to show discord." -Gary Gygax
