Pure clerics still roflstomp pve until epic levels solo. Only time you will ever have trouble even at that is against things that dismiss or banish your summon.

Pure Healer is fine. It's not strictly as good as a healer with three levels of monk in there, but it's fine. It works alright, you just have to be really careful about how you approach potential PVP due to the fact you're losing 16-17 points of discipline.

Edit: And I'd never play a caster cleric who wasn't a healer anymore, much less a pure one.

and from my experience once that happens, unless you have another one you're gonna have an extremely bad time.
