Well, that’s up to the RP of each person. It’s not up to the player to police what they think is reasonable RP. If you have an issue with a player’s RP you can report it to the DM team.

I just think it needs to be a give and take, if you want to play a ranger with no nature affinity but still want to cast all spells ok, but there also needs to be some sort of loss for losing nature affinity. Maybe limit their companions to only city types. After all why would a city ranger ever be around things such as bears and panthers?
"Nature affinity" isn't even something accorded to rangers in Forgotten Realms. IT's being totally made up wholesale. They're just outdoorsmen. Frontier people. "Hunter" would have been a better name for the class, it doesn't have all the baggage that LotR ended up giving to "Ranger".

Yes. They are just outdoorsmen and trackers generally. Beast tamers, even.
Their magic is stuff they've learned from lives on the land. Divine in that it is sourced in the same way druidic magic is- but it is beyond gods in general.
Druidic magic, even, is not bound to a god. It's source is the world itself and its practitioners keep their art SECRET. Druids are in many ways similar to wizards. They are often proponents of ideals, champions of particular gods of nature, but are not beholden to the source. They're just supposed to by in game lore, unwilling to teach their magic first hand to /anyone/ who is not going to become a druid and also keep their magic secret and safe.
(It's why they have a secret language no one is allowed to know!!!!)
Glad this is changing. Time to be a Kelemvorite witcher guy finally.

With the recent ranger change unbinding them from nature, what are our chances of seeing rangers get unbound from deity alignment restrictions? That bit also doesn't make too much sense to me, considering rangers aren't exactly beholden to a higher power or have any dogma attached to their teachings. Feels weird that a character can lose faith in their deity through a ranger dip. It's taken me and some friends by surprise on separate occasions and in all cases it's resulted in a small crisis of characterization.
