Some sample ruling:
"With the intention of fairness and wanting theft to be a story driven process, we have a few extra rules regarding burgarly in addition to the normal 1 theft per 24 hour rules.
- when theft is done by means of lockpicking, leave a sign you were there. This could be a note a RP item would count as a calling card. Please don't bash a fixture in addition to stealing something.
- if the burgarly is not actaully stealing anything (could be planting evidence or some other plot), or the value of the stolen item is less than $5000; then no evidence is required
- if more than one burglary is commenced against the same qaurter within a month (in addition to the 24 hour rule limitations) then the burglar needs leave a clear non-griefing sign they were there.
Ruling on clear sign:
Though we do not want to limit or spell out player options, the most clear one could be a note in place of the item stolen. This can be posted on a door if a fixture was stolen or you could even swap it out with another prank fixture. You could even go as far as bragging about your exploits by leaving a note on a public board bragging about it.
Try to make a story out of this freedom versus a way of griefing players. If a character is shownnto have thieving patterns that do not help create a story for all, then we will address the player. (Much like how one lining and PvPing everyone you come across would be frowned upon and against the "be nice rule")"
