The cited reason was that the Dread Mummy had LoS issues and some players had trouble with it.
Though you have a really good point there that I certainly didn't consider, and maybe not even the devs. That is a potentially troublesome issue in that case.

Seems to me the only real reason this was changed was because one person who had the ability to change a feature was havihg trouble with the feature and decided to remove said feature due to this reason only...
When mentioned when the idea first came out one other person said they encountered a LoS issue and both can be attributed to user error.
When we know that no other summon is going to be touched this seems to me like the idea to remove WoF was not really well thought out, and while i appreciate that. The loss of an entire streams usefulness is not worth the potential benefit that a summon can navigate a rock.
I think if the necro summons need to be reworked to perform better then they should have the time spent to be looked at and reworked.
Very rarely do off the cuff solutions work like this and the bugs encountered are usually indicative of another underlying issue. In this case, AI pathfinding sucks. (Theres a new pathfinding update from beamdog as well) but its always sucked, and WoF has been on mummies for literal years with nobody complaining.
Personally i would welcome a full rework of necromancy summons rather than bandaid fixes, though i understand that this is valuable Dev time i do know necromancy is atleast being looked at by Garr for something new.

99% of the time, you're just going to have them wof at the same time. Microing 1 wof summon is one thing, but 2 gets very weird
I dont think removing wof from mummy is a good response to all the necro specialists that wont exist because it gives up div
necro specialists (and necromancy in general) need something else
