I'm kind of on fence about it but, to me if I were to judge things, its worse than module/area FOIG stuff (which people have mixed opinions on). I am all for the game having a competitive element for those that enjoy it, but I feel the goal of a RP PW should be emulating
a rpg more than a video game. In table top, not that we have to be table top, you don't have to find the invisible text or word of mouth house rules for hidden features/mechanics or your class.

To be honest, it impacts me not overly much, but it creates harder to cross knowledge gap when discussing balance decisions between know and the not knows. Which to me seems against the spirit transparency. Perhaps the knowledge gap is why we had the OP monks that one summer, so I am all for things against hidden knowledge in regards to base mechanics and class balance.
I agree. It took me a little over a year before someone explained the archers ability to shoot while holding down "w" OOC. Such little tricks like that can make or break a PvP encounter.

While it is fun to discover these little tidbits of knowledge over the years, I wonder on how such can be used to gate keeper players or help certain groups maintain the PvP "win" that appears so important to many.

Just a thought.

Back in the days before Discord, when mechanical knowledge of NWN was not widespread there was very much a lot of gatekeeping going around. People who knew how to build well or how more obscure mechanics worked hoarded the knowledge and shared it out only to their friends so they could get an advantage.

Thankfully these days it's easier than ever to find out all these things through the various build channels across different discords, and the increasing general game knowledge that the average player has.

There is another server I played on that whenever I weighed in on balance discussions, the vets on discord just insisted I needed to discover in game to discuss to balance to the point that the server owner acted as a proxy in private DMs for the discussion(s) almost (which is a waste of their time) because while I provided examples the replies were "oh i can counter that, but I am not telling you how as that's something to discover on your own" which made really one sided conversations as i was unable to critique the mystery knowledge. It's not that bad here but i still prefer class balance features being as transparent as possible.

Agreed, Malcolm.

Apparently, as of a recent patch, when you Whirlwind, you lose an attack per round. This has no functional effect on the total burst in the flurry. It needs to apply a -5 attack for the round to substantially change it because the attack you lose is the last one at the lowest AB.

That's not so bad. Learning W trick isnt nearly as pedantic as timing perfect whirlwind in lag conditions, especially if playing the new monks with whirlwind.
