This server doesn't let you go and craft a properly fitted "oversized scimitar" and large race players are being stricken of visual option with this change. I entirely understand Tarkus' plight and frankly it's absurd to suggest they just substitute it with another weapon type.

Yeah, we literally have falchions in the game. There's the oversized scimitar, problem solved.

Yeah a falchion isn't a scimitar though. You're both being rather dismissive and obtuse concerning perfectly reasonable concerns.

As personally silly as I think big races look regardless, a falchion requires the Exotic feat to wield proficiently which makes it a less than ideal replacement. (Unless I'm mistaken, I could be mistaken).

To me, it sounds like it's time to make scimitars and rapiers exotic weapon proficiency for consistency purposes when compared to all the other 18-20 weapons.

Kenji, that just means there's going to be another flood of elven WMs running around with rapiers and I just cannot tolerate the idea of that.

You're right, it's back to the drawing board with this one

Delete all weapons so everyone has to use fists, this will balance things.
Remove hands from monks to further balance things (A very literal disarm, if you will)

This is, to my mind, a great idea, especially with the addition of Huge weapons.
My 2 coppers.
Firstly, yes, it sucks if you have built a character a specific way and then the Devs change something that makes your char look a little weird to you, but this is the problem with an ever changing and developing game. Sometimes, unfortunately, a change will happen that affects a char while you are playing it. It sucks, BUT, well, shit happens. Its an improvement for the server in general, future characters built with it in mind will be the better for it. The Devs can't hold back changes until a moment when all no one is playing a char that would be affected. It sucks that this time it was your foot they dropped it on, but its going to be someones foot every time, this time you lost the lotto.
A while back the Devs changed up the class skills system massively and then completely and utterly changed the way Warlocks worked. At that time I had 3 Warlock chars that I was flipping between to find the one I enjoyed most, two of them were parry focused melee builds, the skill change stripped Parry from the class, and I couldn't even multiclass them because the build also required the level 28 spells. Then, shortly after the Warlock Class change just utterly invalidated all three builds, there was no way to really build them back the same. It sucked. I got over it. The changes screwed those chars, BUT enabled far better ones.
Now that out of the way, this DOES raise new issues.
Weapon Feats.
With this change, almost every weapon of a "normal" size for a Large character will come under the "Two Handed" weapons list, meaning they will need only one Weapon Focus/Spec/Crit feat to cover virtually all the "normal" weapons.
There are 17 Large melee weapons. All but 5 are covered by the Two Handed feat. It also includes two Medium (and thus "concealable") weapons too. A real "One weapon group fits all" kinda situation, where smaller races have to specialise and sacrifice certain weapons, Large chars really dont. Sure they could go polearms instead but that is still almost half of the weapons they can select. I Hope that Huge weapons will have their own weapon feat groups, because if they all just get dropped into Two Handed or Polearms then that just gets crazy.
Right now a Large char can select Two Handed and be able to use ANY of the crit ranges, any of the damage types, Primitive bruiser type weapons, nimble finessable blades, they can equip THE BEST off hand weapon. If the Huge weapons come under two handed too that gets even more outrageous.
Sure some of the "normal weapons" are Polearms, but what do they really loose? Halberd, Scythe, Trident, Pike and Naginata? Naginata, Pike and Trident are just weak compared to other weapons of their size, i dread to even think what a Scythe would look like wielded 1 handed, so, just Halberd? Not much of a sacrifice.
Personally I would suggest giving Large size characters access to a different set of Weapon Feats.
Large One Handed Edged (Same as usual but add Nodachi, Greataxe, Greatsword, Falchion, Halberd, Scythe and Naginata)
Large One Handed Concussion (Add Dire Macha, Heavy Flail, Maul, and Great Club)
Split the Huge Weapons into Large Two Handed and Large Polearm, throw Pike and Trident into the latter.
This would also be a quick and easy fix for any current chars having issues with the size changes. Does your Battleaxe look too small? Well good news, your 1handed Edged feats just became Large 1h and so you can use a Greataxe instead. (yes i know its not perfect, their big enchanted weapons will need to be replaced, but its not like they have to stop using the old ones in the meantime and yes I know, its mostly going to screw the scimitar folks who now need to find "exotic weapon" feats from somewhere, but hey, welcome to the Kukri feat tax come join the smaller races.
Might also become an opportunity to make similar feats for Small Sized chars so that they have to make a choice between one handed focus or Two handed like the Mediums do.

Not sure where this one should go.. but with the release of true "two handed weapons" for large creatures, any chance we will see similar oversized ranged weapons too?
Big fan of something like an actual hand cannon that shoots bombard shells, instead of gonnes shooting gone shells for our larger friends. And balistas instead of crossbows.

It would be cool if we had great bows like in Elden Ring or Dark Souls, but, alas, given the hardcoded nature of how the NWN engine works, we can't make new ranged weapons or new shields that are separate baseitem.2da entries.
But we certainly can make new bow models that are bigger sized and disallow normal bows to use the great bow customizations. It can then have all the scripted restrictions and bonuses to imitate that of a great bow.

here's a simple question:
why can't we choose the weapon size ourselves?
is that something that would be difficult to implement?

As far as I can tell, it's pretty much impossible with the way NWN is setup.

I have seen another server (The very NSFW one) do it pre-EE. Not sure if they edit the item or the character.
