If I could be a dragon, I would go for a Crystal Dragon.

i personally am not the FONDEST of them because the blurbs from the lorebooks make them seem super obnoxious but i wanna know if there's more to them than that.
Copper dragons are known to be pranksters and to have a love of bards. They love all things musical, stories, fantasy, lore, they are just very funny dragons in my opinion!
Perfect for a bard! I tend to veer towards comedy relief in my RP because at the end of the day I roleplay to have a good time. Laughing is a good time to me, so that's why a copper dragon.
I think all dragons are a bit obnoxious and full of themselves. I would be too if I was nearly immortal and a giant feared creature of awe!

A pure blooded red dragon interested only in acquiring riches to grow his hoard and being worshiped by lesser creatures, which lets face it, is every creature that isn't a red dragon.

Probably a green, there solely to delight in the merry-go-round of politics, walking around with the draconic equivalent of popcorn every time a new election happened and wanting to find out all about it.

I love the Nose-horn on Blue Dragons. Like a Rino! Lightning is also my favorite elemental damage.
I'd just play a kobold though, myself. I really should make one.

Abishai could be neat. Dragon-like devils that serve Tiamat.
Re: If you could play ANY sort of DRAGON or DRAGON-LIKE Player Character...
I have been playing members of a noble family in my tabletop D&D games for like 15 years. They are mostly sorcerers, and claim to be descended from an ancient, star-eating dragon. They have elaborate, apocryphal legends about their draconic progenitor and a family tradition surrounding it that spans many generations, and yet there is no real proof that any of it is true. These have been some of my favorite characters to play. Not only do I get to explore dragon lore, I get to make up whatever head-canon I want because this is just what this particular family believes. Are they really descended from an ancient, primordial dragon? It doesn't matter. They end up gaining draconic powers one way or another through pursuing research, magical items, pacts, or rituals. The mystery and awe of the dragon survives, because its the basis of these characters' identities.

Sadly my favorite type of dragon I do not think is technically canon in the setting Arelith takes place in.
There is an Opal Dragon among the Gem Dragon's that was highly attuned to positive energy and healing magic. It was a flightless dragon, shy, tended to avoid conflict if it could.

I do - my preference are Silvers and Brass, though I have played a Gold.
Re: If you could play ANY sort of DRAGON or DRAGON-LIKE Player Character...
A jittery little kobold artificer who lives in a secluded tower that adventurers occasionally venture to to ask for advice about magical artifacts in exchange for going on coffee and tobacco runs.
My personal opinion is that I could never do a dragon justice, so there wouldn't be much point in me playing one. But playing a vain and insecure character that wants everyone to think they're basically indistinguishable from a dragon is 100% my wheelhouse.

You...
Can already do that, somewhat.
Not 1:1, but a jittery kobold living in some wilderness quarter can be pulled off already.

Well that's why I said specifically what I said, you know? Because I can't do what I described on Arelith 1:1.

I'd do this too, but not a goblin. I'd do a drow.
Winifred Rhoswen: "He said good things. Even said ye weren't a Paladin when I asked!"
Ryana: "Not a paladin." I'll take that as a compliment.

Oh i do recall the gold one-senile, was a blast, i think he ate Hilda's axe, but was fair to spit out another.
As for dragons i would Like Cooper as its fun, cheerful and likes games, it would offer top much fornthe Game....maybe also Gold Dragon as it would make more sense to be with people - Being Positive.
So a good and loose dragon in Short.

Well, I played two. I think I'd stick with metallics. Silvers are my personal favorite.

Half Dragon Kobold Cleric.
Least then I'd not have to waste a gift to worship my deity of choice.
Likely silver, though I'd not be against Opal, though I have no idea what the canonization of gem dragons are across the different versions of D&D.
Alternatively a Silver Dragon that just takes the form of kobold to test travelers on their biases.

I will say, its not easy to pull off. I found it exhausting at times to remain "above everything" and "better than everyone else" so to speak without being a complete arse. Still, its a very fun challenge.
